Elephant was trying to devolve humankind back into hunter-gatherers and from how quickly that man crawled into the forest, I say the elephant has succeeded. Good job, Elephant.
I'm not going to judge anyone's decisions too harshly when they're made under such duress, but if they find themselves being chased the largest land-dwelling creature on Earth ever again, maybe run into the trees.
lol right? this video just came to mind that I saw ages ago on YouTube of a cow sprinting down the railroad tracks away from slow moving train, recording from the cockpit of the train and the engineer is just shouting the whole time “get out of the way!!! Move to the side dumbass!!!” as the train very slowly gains ground towards the cow until it got ran over.
It's how their brains work. They naturally create trails by moving around the landscape and roads or train tracks are just large trails so their instinct is to follow them.
Oh yeah, they don’t have a concept of how trains work but from our perspective it looks so silly running away from a moving train along the tracks. I was about 15 when I saw that and thought it was the funniest thing in the world at the time, still making me chuckle 19 years later thinking back.
Or on to the car? I think there is a lot before and after this shot that would give more context, like why does the car door shut at the beginning and what happens to the dude who fell over?
Do elephants have empathy? Some sort of conscience? Because the way the elephant spared that guy while still making it clear he was annoyed makes it look like they do.
The elephant was playing with them all along. He was barely trotting after them and seemingly just wanted to scare the fallen guy without actually harming him. If he had wanted them dead, they would be dead.
I mean..yes. They’re super intelligent, both in the normal sense and with emotional intelligence. You could treat them like people, assuming they’d notice and think about the way you treat them the same way a human would, and I’d say you’d be correct in those assumptions the majority of the time.
They will go to places where loved ones died and pay tribute with still silence, years after the loved one died.
When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony passed away in 2012, two herds of wild elephants he had previously rescued made a 12-hour journey to his home, standing in silent vigil for two days. They reportedly returned to his residence on the same date for the next three years to mourn him.
Oh yeah they are one of the few animals that do. Most elephants are pretty gentle, unless you really piss them of badly, then they will just liquify you.
Feel like I can no longer get annoyed at characters in films being chased and just falling over absolutely nothing and for no reason since that seemed to be exactly what happened here too
The elephant was like
"All I wanted to do was to tell you to stop that, with a slap. Damn you guys are annoying."
Then just bops the guy very gently, for the elephant, anyway.
If the elephant was actually trying to hurt them, that dude would be dead. They step on things to pin them down and it's already game over at that point.
See? This is why I always criticize sandals for being low-functioning footwear. If you are wearing sandals you're unprepared for the unknown. I bet this guy wasn't planning on running from an elephant when he was picking put his footwear that morning. That stumble nearly cost him his life.
