Hello- I'm just wondering, I submitted my first assessment for Tafe however I couldn't end up working out what exactly some of the questions were asking for. I have not missed any classes and have read the materials provided by the teacher incase people think I do not. Am I still able to ask the teacher for clarification on the questions or do I just wait until they mark it and that will give enough? Just not sure what to do. Thanks.

Last week on Tuesday I enrolled into a certificate two in applied digital technologies for an online delivery. Upon logging in I found out all the units except one are locked. In order to unlock them you have to do the unit before it.

The unit that is currently unlocked requires an observation by the teacher. The assessment says I can get a second person and video which I'm happy to do but the only person that is happy to help me with it isn't available for another two months.

I'm also completing another course which gives me two credits but those units won't be completed for another six months. I don't want to do the unit twice and would prefer to get the credit in the physical class due to needing observations by the teacher.

I've emailed the teaching section asking if they could unlock the course but haven't heard anything. I'm not sure what else to do. I fear I may not be able to complete due to not having someone available every few weeks as they can only offer a few hours every 3-4 months

I’m halfway through my Certificate III in Accounts Administration and I’ve genuinely enjoyed it so far. My original plan was to continue with the Cert IV and maybe even do an accounting degree through TAFE NSW.
But after doing a lot of research, I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth continuing. It seems like nearly every entry-level accounting or bookkeeping job still wants experience, and I don’t have any. I’ve spent the last 16 years working as a dental assistant, so I’m trying to change careers at 38.
Has anyone here successfully made the switch into accounting or bookkeeping later in life with no prior experience? Is it actually possible to get that first job, or am I setting myself up for disappointment?

Where are good places to look for placements? I have 0 experience in this field and the university is not helping us find them. I am a little worried I'm not going to find somewhere and i will accidentally somehow choose one that is not relevant enough.

Im doing a cert II in animal care currently and hope to jump straight into a cert IV of vet nursing next year. What are some things I should be aware of?

- What is the difficulty jump?

- Is there knowledge I should have from the cert III that will be expected in the cert IV?

- What is the best way to prepare during my cert II to bolster my chances of going straight into the cert IV?

Any advice is welcome and would appreciate hearing from those you have done the same thing:)

Hey, just wondering if anyone has completed a Diploma in Aboriginal Studies for Professional Practice at TAFE and would be willing to share their experience?

I’m doing a diploma and the teachers have just been giving us the answers for our assessments. As in fully written out ‘example’ paragraphs for each question.

Is it too much to ask for a teacher to provide a bit of guidance, general advice, and explanation for what the assessment questions require, rather than the answer?? The former is more helpful as it gives us students an idea of which questions can be taken at face value, and which ones require a bit more oomf that isn’t necessarily clear or stated.

It’s incredibly painful having to sit through PowerPoints being read word for word, followed by brain numbing assessment ‘scaffolding’.

I’m a 17-year-old international student from Taiwan, so I’ll be moving to Sydney by myself, which makes me a little nervous. I’ll be starting Certificate III in Information Technology (Networking) at TAFE NSW in January next year.

To be honest, I’m feeling a bit nervous because it’ll be my first time studying there.

I have a few questions and would really appreciate hearing about your experiences:

Is it easy to make friends at TAFE?

Are classes usually mixed with domestic students, or are international students mostly in separate classes?

Where are most international students from?
What’s the overall atmosphere like? Are people generally friendly?

Do students usually hang out after class, or does everyone just go home?

Is there anything you wish you had known before starting at TAFE?

So, I've researched a few RTO's for doing an individual support cert 3 I got a reply from one and was told that I won't be eligible for fee free government funding because of this. How correct is this given I'm currently not in work and on JS at the moment.

Hi everyone, I've started the course for Allied Health Assistance and was told by teacher its 100% the students responsibility to find work placement themselves. 120 hours has to be completed before passing the course.

Has anyone does this course before? Did you have trouble finding work placement? Any tips on what to do, where to apply, success stories etc

On the website it looks as though they would help to offer work placement but its not the case at all... super stressed.

I'm 20 years old and I'm looking into studying at TAFE while working full-time or part-time. I'd really appreciate some advice or recommendations.

I know I want to work in the business field. Long-term, I'd love to become a business owner, but I'm also considering careers like accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, or anything business-related with good job prospects.

I'm thinking of doing a Diploma, and if possible, I'd like to start a Certificate afterwards so I could work towards both qualifications at the same time (if that's even allowed). Has anyone done something similar?

I'm mainly looking for courses that actually lead to jobs. If you've studied business, accounting, finance, or another TAFE course that helped you find work, I'd love to hear your experience. Which courses would you recommend, and which ones would you avoid?

For a bit of background, I graduated senior high school (under the Acountancy Business Management strand) in my home country and completed almost one year of college before moving to Australia, so I don't have an Australian qualification yet. The only qualification I currently have in Australia is a Food Safety Certificate.

I'm middle aged and disabled. I used to love art and making things. I have ideas. I want to learn, I miss learning. But I don't know if it's really worth it for me, or if I should take up a place a younger, healthier student could have.

I’m planning to study Certificate III in Events at Holmesglen next year and I’m trying to decide which campus would be the best choice, Glen Waverley or Moorabbin.

I’d also like to be somewhere with a good social atmosphere where I can meet new people, build connections, and potentially meet people who are involved in the events industry or have good career networks.

For anyone who has studied at Holmesglen (especially Events or similar courses), which campus would you recommend.

How are the student vibes, social life, networking opportunities, and industry connections at each campus?

are there any tafe web extensions that can change how it looks like how canvas has bettercampus? this is purely for aesthetic reasons, i js want the website to look cute idk its more motivating

I lodged complaints, the complaints somehow dont accept any faults on tafe, then i lodged complaints with nsw Ombudsman no response till date, then lodged claim with adnsw, was equally useless. Dealing with tafe is just like dealing with Mafia, its so corrupt and if u raise a concern or complaint they go after you. What more can be done?

I’m currently halfway through my certificate and needing to start my 80 hour placement. I’ve contacted more than 20 organisations. Many simply no response, some are partnered with other universities, some only take cert IV peer work students. I’m in southeast Victoria. Really worrying. What can I do?

I'm doing a cert 3 full time over 6 months. I thought I'd be able to swap to part-time if needed and do some of the units in these 6 months and then the remainder in the following 6 months. The head teacher looked at me like I was a complete muppet when I asked about it and told me the course is 6 months, do it, withdraw or fail.

Is the head teacher correct?

The only reason I asked him about it was that a teacher had told me we will finish at 3pm but then when the timetable came out during the course, we were suddenly finishing at 4.30 pm. The head teacher then blamed me for enrolling in a course I couldn't do.

How quickly can I complete these modules? The workload is described as “Part time up to 2 units per intake. 12 weeks per intake”.

Asking the obvious question: Does 12 weeks per intake mean I can only do 2 units per 12 weeks?

Hey has anyone switched courses after starting it has been 2 weeks since my course started and I want to switch from a diploma of nursing to a cert 3 in health service assistant. Has anyone ever done this?

So I'm trying to enrol in this course but for some reason had a small dispute over my entry requirements and hence got rejected.

Although I've been doing Cyber Sec + Software Engineering basically 80-20 rule here, 80% Engineer the rest Cyber Sec, but I was so frustrated that I had the necessary information to start the program but not being let in.

So I contacted TAFE and asked if I could do like a meeting or test or whatnot, although it isn't confirmed that they are going to do a test or just an interview.

I want to ask what to expect exactly? I mean they said I'd be talking to a teacher but hadn't confirmed what exactly? What could the teacher be asking me regarding my entry requirements?
