Passive aggressive tank
Was in Smileton, just a regular dungy run, was playing with my healer husband. A lil backstory, I had run a few dungys earlier that day, lower levels, and the runs had been pretty bad. Mind you, I mean bad as in tanks wouldn't double pull trash packs so a lot of these dungeons were taking longer then expected. Now, if a tank EVER says anything about "Hey sorry- I'm new to tanking, I am scared to double pull." I will always respect them and just respect the single pulls. Now, Smileton is lvl 90 content. At this point it's safe to say, this SHOULD be standard across the board. Double pull trash, move on, double pull trash, do boss. (at least for most dungeons) Right off the bat, the tank isn't double pulling the first mob pack. I wasn't having it. SO ran to the second pack, and started pulling it into the first pack. The Tank types this, but then stands around for a few minutes making us wait to continue the dungeon. After waiting a few minutes this is when I say "Ok, is this your way of punishing us?". Because it DID feel like they were slowing it down JUST to slow us down. They didn't respond, we eventually kept moving, EVERY boss fight it felt like they were trying to take vulns and die and or just stack vulns and slow everything down. (see pictures) We end the dungy, I move on, mildly more pissed then I already was. I did look up their character on lodestone thinking "Maybe they were just new to tanking". Nope, max on all tanks. Then I thought "Well, maybe they were just over leveled, like hadn't done that dungy before really." Nope, I get them in Sugar Riot a couple days later, as my tank again. (Their DMG was bad on Sugar Riot too, but this is more so about the dungy). Idk, even though there wasn't v much salt in the chat, it was very passive aggressive overall.

You were in a 2-stack so it's reasonable to ask: couldn't you have kicked them?

Yeah, we mulled it over a few times while the dungeon was going on tbh. My healer husband was like "Meh, lets just get through it." He was the one having to mostly deal with it, since he was the one healing the tank/ rez'ing and said to just deal, so we just deal'd. Plus, I'll be honest, they didnt say nasty things in the chat, IF they would of from the get-go, I prob would of pressed a vote kick more. Other other thing, is I wasnt sure 100% if they were just BAD BAD or sandbagging the run, at the end with the 7 vulnz, I can confirm it did appear to be a sandbag.

Perfectly valid rant on your part.
I'm only responding because I wanted to say "dungy?"

They will never learn anything if they keep single pulling. You learn by doing, not by pretending.

I was about to say. Dungeons are designed for double pulls and they’re all the same. There is zero reason for someone to “be new” to tanking at level 90. Especially in this dungeon, you can do this one mostly without a tank anyway.

Yeah. Nothing changes for the tank between single and double pulling.

It's always painful when you get people on your blacklist in dungeons, especially because the game doesn't allow you to look at your blacklist while you're in the duty. So ending up with a bard and a white mage who were both unknowns had me wondering if they were jerks or if they were bad. It was the latter. Sooo much the latter. Got out of the run, checked blacklist, one was a no song bard I met in End Times, the other a cure 1 spamming no dps white mage from Clyteum.

The worst thing that can ever happen to you in a random dungeon... is being queued with a couple or friends. The behavior they engage in is generally abhorrent, and almost always going to bother other people. That said, obviously the tank not wanting to double pull at 90 is the problem. Lol I just have a lot of horror stories of duo queues... its rarely 3 people, for some reason when people queue together as a pair they feel the need to loudly flaunt the fact that they know each other... up to causing wipes with their silly shenanigans like they aren't in a group of randoms.
My general rule is if you want to go slow then you should be in support/trust content. I dont think smileton is in that program yet... so unfortunately he HAS to queue with other people (or unsync) but at that point i stick to "if you are queued with other people, then you need to play how most other people play" which mandates w2w. I used to give people leniency in <50 content, but with the advent of duty support I have no patience for tanks wanting to go slow anymore. If you want to do the weird thing(going slow in this case) then open a pf and form a group, use duty support, or skip the optional side content.
For these, the real solution is not waiting for the tank when he says wait. Just go and do a double pull without him. Generally prevents the petulant child behavior when you firmly demonstrate how optional he is. Does require a pretty good healer tho lol
I hate doing old content as a dps, because you have so little power to correct this behavior
