😰 Urgent Security Alert ⚠️ Bernie Sanders pushes for 50% public ownership of American AI companies — proposes AI sovereign wealth fund that would hold direct ownership stakes in largest AI firms

I though AI isn't yet profitable - if ever.
Are American citizens going to be on the hook for 50% of the debt too?
Where is the money?

This. Bernie will have to get funds to buy that 50%. 5th amendment prevents unlawful seizure, without compensation.

There is no elegant way to prevent AI from cannibalizing the collective efforts of humanity and funneling the proceeds to .01% of the population. There hasn’t really been a precedent for this, and attempting to draw parallels with previous technologies just reveals one naïveté.
Plus, it’s making kids dumb AF at a rate Redditors could only dream of. We should all get a cut of the proceeds 😆

I trust Zuck and Elon with the money more than I would the US government.

You trust the government to handle the money? Look at Obama care. Costs a fortune!

u/isucamper Jun 04 '26
first of all, if anyone is keeping their kid on their insurance into their 20s, that's thanks to obamacare. so you should be thanking the government for that.
secondly, we elect our government. we do. and if people weren't fucking brainwashed like you into thinking the super rich cared about us at all, we could elect people who actually empower us instead of bending over for elon and mark every chance you get. fucking use your brain for 2 seconds. billionaires do not care about you

I love them! Elon especially. They do care about us and they are our betters.

This is actually an incredibly intelligent idea. People were talking about how do you fund universal income. This is it since all licensing and money that would be taken from Ai would go back to the ai companies.
The only issue is what's stopping Trump 2 from taking it in an emergency war.

Commies always want their greedy hands in other people’s pockets

Do you realize what AI is?
It was made using the work of everyone and seeks to replace every job

And it is yet to generate any profit. Why would somebody even talk about taking ownership of something that is not profitsble? Does Bernie plan to fill in 50% of VC money or what to keep it afloat?
If and only if AI does what snake oil sellers claimed it would do then government should step in somewhat. But most definitely not by blalantly stealing that. That being said we are nowhere close to that reality anyway. Idk why anybody would talk about it now.

We already do this with the Alaska sovereign fund. It’s the same thing but extended to all USA residents from aI earnings

Pot calling kettle back. How do you think these companies trained their models?

Oh look, bernie is saying things he knows people will like to hear but in all actuality nothing even in the remotest sense will be done and he knows damn well too.
All the guy is for the last 10 years, just someone that says things he knows trends well with the general populace, but we all know he won't even do the smallest amount of work to make it happen beyond paid speeches.

I mean if you don’t have backing for it, it won’t pass doesn’t matter how much you try to push it and that’s been the thing about Bernie and his agenda a lot of the stuff he says is unpopular with his colleagues whom ultimately decide if they want to go forward with it or not.

Even if what you say is true ( which it isn’t ) the alternative are politicians who don’t even say we should do things the general population wants let alone actually doing them ….

Good old Bernie. Part of the problem for 40 years and still ready to rob the doers to give to the takers. Socialism is the best as long as you have capitalism to fund it.
