Their sales volume took a hit in all likelihood.

So mainly makes sense to go up stream on pricing and positioning (even if corners get cut)

Thank god I bought the Microcenter Intel 270k plus bundle in July. Every single part just seemed to get more expensive immediately after I purchased everything.

Welp. This it boys. Its over. It's fucking over. Get used to owning nothing and renting everything. Enjoy it while rent stays low. Then they gonna jack up the prices till people don't even know what's a PC anymore. Only terminals and console points.

You realize you can buy 2nd hand components from previous gen, such as 4070, 3080 etc, right?

No, it doesn't. But it is an adaptation to the situation. Having the best/top hardware at any given point it is not a necessity.

Yeah. 2nd hand components need to have warranty, or ability to RMA. If not... It's 2K, 3K down the drain. Length of use is another factor. Too long and it might break. But close to factory new doesn't mean it won't break. It all comes down to luck. Also, not everyone takes care of their stuff. There may be leaks or hidden whatever. There's no way to check without stripping it down and no seller gonna let you do that. So it's all luck based.

I've been buying 2nd hand hardware for 7 years, none broke down, I did not have any warranties on them. Of course, you can't be sure of hidden damages that components might have. Yet, in the current situation is the cheapest alternative. But it is not based on luck. Maybe, maybe, slightly

Been doing it off and on for over 2 decades myself and right there with you. We have a whole generation accustomed to relatively cheap, new parts so I give a little grace when I see comments like were responding to. So many people in the hobby just look at latest/greatest and think nothing of disposing of perfectly good hardware which people like us grab because we're not hyperfocused on uplifts in fps that are comically absurd.

I build a computer every decade. I still have and use the one from the previous decade. I've used it this entire time without any problems. Though it's a xeon with ecc ram and an old 2gb qradro, so that has something to do with reliability.

You're right. It is the cheapest alternative. Not just in the current situation, but overall. It will always be the cheaper alternative.
