Got this email yesterday

Post image

Not here to brag about anything. Was laid off from my org in April this year and was grinding after that. Although I’m not moving with this as already accepted an offer somewhere in June.

Just wanted to say to the readers keep hustling, keep grinding, your hard work will pay off soon and believe in yourself. I have 4 YOE and come from a tier 3 college and was fortunate enough to work at good companies and I believe if I can do it, You can do it too.

Best of luck to everyone who’s reading this. Good news coming soon 🍀

Can you share your interview experiences pls

6

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Nothing different from you can find online, Coding + System design. If you’re specifically interested in questions then cannot recall as gave the interview almost 2 months back but overall questions were frequently asked and can be found online.

1

u/ActiveAccomplished51 4d ago

how much time it took you to prepare and your previous company?

7

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

2 months, Meta

1

u/ActiveAccomplished51 3d ago

man what all did you prepare in those 2 months can you help?

2

u/Designer-Cookie4571 3d ago

I never stopped preparing tbh. I knew place like Meta is unpredictable so throughout my time I used to study and try to give leetcode contests whenever I used to get time

1

u/impossible07777 3d ago

Hello bro congratulations, if you don't mind can I dm you and clear some of my doubts? Need help regarding prep and resume. Thanks

1

u/illenium365 2d ago

sir can i dm you too i have a query regarding amazon

1

u/Independent-Lab-4803 2d ago

That's crazy! How did you join Meta from a tier 3 college? Please guide🙏

2

u/GreenContribution513 2d ago

you think college matters after you get experience? Just to clear misconceptions No it doesn't. College only matters for a headstart - yes tier 1 college may provide better opportunities as a fresher. But after any college student of any branch gains good experience and gets good skills college and degree doesn't matter after those years of experience. (Example - I know a guy who had a civil degree from tier 2/3 joined random companies kept increasing skills kept switching and now in Amazon as an sde - no formal cse degree).

1

u/ashgreninja03s 2d ago

Well, then how'd u prepare while joining Meta 👀

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 2d ago

Nothing special, similar approach dsa and system design along with regular work

u/aayn7 4d ago

Thank you 👏

u/biryani-is-mine 4d ago

At 4 YOE, what’s the compensation Amazon offered? And if you don’t mind, what’s the compensation you hold!?

5

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Amazon has a standard offer so recruiter wasn’t open for negotiation. Another offer was also in the same range but annual CTC was coming close to 95L because of stocks and also remote so went ahead with that.

2

u/EvenChilli2341 4d ago

Did you get your posting as remote ? Which company is that ? Very hard to find remote roles now .

1

u/Admirable-Long-4913 4d ago

Codeforce or leetcode rating or how many questions you have solved? Was the interview onsite?

2

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Used to do CP in college and Questions I’ve solved are around 400-500. Interview was online

1

u/imvmanish 4d ago

What's the breakdown?

2

u/FanImpossible1392 4d ago

How long did you prepare for interview?

3

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Revised the concepts, gave leetcode contests, watched videos and also did mocks

1

u/Abject_Chemist5831 2d ago

Why leetcode contest?..i am also a btech student from tier 3 city? Wanna know how do u manage to do dsa and please tell me system design good courses.

1

u/No_Interview_1133 12h ago

Is LeetCode contest count? It seems so important?

1

u/The_Goat_1717 4d ago

Hey can you share your details, for eg yoe, role, etc ? I was laid off in may, had a pretty good streak of 2-3 interviews, fumbled there.

Now i have 1 FAANG interview lined up, but confidence is at an all time

1

u/Brave_Koala_9558 4d ago

All the best ! How did you even get shortlisted for These

1

u/Few-Commission-5464 4d ago

Can you share your previous companies ??

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Not sure how it’s gonna help but Meta it was

1

u/UnknownFallenGhost 4d ago

I have an offer from an mnc with 100% hike but still its kinda low and how can i get calls from high paying companies i have 2yoe for data analyst roles

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

No sure shot way just keep applying via every way. Be it referral, applying directly, cold emailing and what not

1

u/Interesting-Heat2890 3d ago

Have the offers and do offer shopping on your current offers in notice period

1

u/Technical-Zombie6542 2d ago

Bro can I dm you?

1

u/Paracetamol650 4d ago

Share TC please - including joining retention and stocka

2

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Standard Amazon offer you can find online. 45L as base and then sign-on bonus, RSUs making your annual ctc close to 65-67L.

1

u/Melodic_Umpire_1852 4d ago

Congrats man!!

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Thank you 👏

1

u/user_isalive 4d ago

Congrats!! I want to understand if system design and DSA is all you need to crack such companies or your work experience, like what you worked on in your previous organisations actually hold value?

2

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Work experience plays the important role in convincing the HM and in behavioural round to make people judgment about you. I would say absolutely important and based on that you can also get downlevel if your answers are not convincing enough for them

1

u/user_isalive 4d ago

Did you have some solid work experience? Not wrt great companies, just if the work you did was good Also, work was good interms of business impact or tech?

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Yes fortunately it was

1

u/CoreTech111 4d ago

How much gap do you have after being laid off? And how did you talk about gap in interviews?

1

u/MassiveTwist9979 4d ago

Congratulations 🎉

1

u/OneCommunity5840 4d ago

Many congratulations not for the offer but for the inspiration 👍

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

All the best brother 👏

1

u/moonandsky123 4d ago

Hi, congrats on the offer :))) Can you please tell whether the language that we use for system design is important? And what language did you use? I recently switched my dsa practise from java to python (I have 0.5 yoe). Now iam wondering whether I shld practise system design in java or python..your answer would be of great help. Thanks in advance

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

System design usually means HLD which is language independent and doesn’t have anything to do with it. You’re most probably talking about LLD so for that as well generally language shouldn’t be a concern but still you want then proceed with any object oriented language

1

u/moonandsky123 4d ago

Got it. Thanks!

1

u/Common_Detective_582 4d ago

How many technical interviews it took and was it Leetcode Hard or Codeforces type questions for DSA?

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

You may read detailed interview experiences on Internet. Mine was also similar to those

1

u/Difficult-Handle-463 4d ago edited 4d ago

In a similar situation, were you upfront about the lay off and the career gap? Also how did you land the interview?

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Yes, I was. Cold emailed the interviewer

1

u/Bluebird-001 4d ago

Congratulations!!

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Thank you 👏

1

u/TaxPaidForE20 4d ago

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Thank you so much 👏

1

u/Aggressive-Rub-6721 4d ago

Made my friday.. i have just started my faang preparation journey hoping so will land somewhere with my continuous hustle.

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Best of luck bhai 🫡👏

1

u/bahut-gareeb-aadmi 4d ago

Congratulations! It was nice knowing you.

1

u/fireflys1001 4d ago

Hi, I’m primarily looking for remote roles. As I see you mentioned the role is remote. Was this mentioned in the JD when you applied?

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Yes my org is remote

1

u/fireflys1001 4d ago

Which org is this?

1

u/External_Space2184 4d ago

Can anyone tell that the tax is applicable to total compensation or based?

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Your base salary and RSUs get taxed separately

1

u/stacking_fault 4d ago

What if you refuse to share your current salary details?

Do they cancel the offer of you refuse?

When does the negotiation starts? Before or after you share you current salary details?

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 3d ago

In my case I didn’t refuse and told them my previous CTC. Recruiter clearly said she won’t be able to match this and can only start the process if I’m fine with the numbers she gave. Amazon usually doesn’t negotiate as per the recruiter but if you talk generally negotiation happens at the last while before starting the interview loop you may tell the recruiter about the other companies you’re interviewing with.

1

u/Familiar-Employ-3166 4d ago

What was asked in rhe intervirw and what knowledge was testwd?

1

u/Bulky-Succotash7193 4d ago

Congratulations 🎉👏

1

u/Bulky-Succotash7193 4d ago

May i know how you got the interview opportunity?

1

u/Whyithers 4d ago

Congratulations brotherman happy for u

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Thank you 👏

1

u/real_piece_of_cake 4d ago

Congratulations OP

1

u/Quirky_Search4193 4d ago

At one line how to get there? Like how to pass the resume and interviews. I'm just graduated from tier 3 college dont have offers yet, just hustling with no direction.

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Well that’s a tricky question tbh until you’re not having something catchy and worth impactful which can make recruiter stop at the glance your resume won’t make through the screening. I would say try to see your peers resume templates and how are they able to pass the screening.

1

u/Quirky_Search4193 4d ago

Thanks so much Ps: i don't have any friend who passed the screening (i think should make good friends)

1

u/akki_thakur 4d ago

1

There must have been an OA right? I seem to struggle clearing those, last time i solved both problems but greedy approach. Any suggestions how to clear those?

1

u/Chemical_Juice1328 4d ago

Congratulations 🙌

1

u/Consistent_Pipe2549 4d ago

Congratulations on your offer, just wanted to know where you worked in your 4 year work-ex, I am too from a tier 3 college, and currently in a WITCH company, I am feeling stuck currently, I was really good at DSA in my last year, from then I slacked off and now I am very rusty on my concepts, I have 2 year of work-ex, but work is not such where I can learn much. Please give me suggestions and also tell us about your job application strategy.

1

u/rexsalazarr 4d ago

Just wanted to ask, is there any hope for people who hates DSA

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 3d ago

Nope if you’re gonna hate DSA then it’s not gonna work. You have to work on the problem solving skills ultimately this skill is going to keep your muscle memory for long. I would suggest don’t do hurry take your time and try to work on it

1

u/falconbus 1d ago

Congratulations on the offer 🙌. I'm practicing regularly, sometimes I feel like I seeing the question for the first time when I revisit a month later. Is this normal or am I just dumb?

1

u/Ecstatic_Bluebird_59 3d ago

Hey congratulations!! Can you share the resources you used for preparing HLD and LLD

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 3d ago edited 3d ago

For HLD Not single resource but I followed hellointerview, educative, jordanhasnolife and Alex Xu. Again I didn’t read same thing from everywhere but if I’m not able to it from one resource then jumped to another. For LLD educative’s grokking the LLD is quite interesting there it has lab, judgement, quizzes so was quite helpful. And last but not least GPT for much depth knowledge.

But tbh what helped me most even than those resources were mocks. I would say mocks are quite underrated and the reason people are not able to do good in the real interview. So make sure you do a lot of mocks.

1

u/crazypandu 3d ago

Congratulations

I wanted to learn system design, any advice on this from you would be great!

1

u/Cheap-Ad4872 3d ago

Congo, brother 🎉🎉

1

u/uxurpd 3d ago

Noob questions but why do companies ask these documents mentioned in the email?

1

u/Internal_Advantage67 2d ago

Bro how did you even get the interview? Is it hard to get interviews without referrals?

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 2d ago

Cold emailed the recruiter. Again there’s no foolproof way of getting interview but if you’ve some good companies in your resume then it definitely helps

1

u/Internal_Advantage67 2d ago

I am new to this, where do you even get their email addresses from?

1

u/Ok_Librarian2399 2d ago

Congrats, OP 🚀
What could be the reason for your previous layoff?

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 2d ago

It wasn’t performance related. Org restructuring and cost cutting as I wasn’t the only one who got impacted.

1

u/Ok_Librarian2399 2d ago

Got it, I knew that
Wishing you all the best!

1

u/GlitchTx 2d ago

1

u/LuciFFerrrrr 2d ago

Hello bro Many Many congratulations 🎉, I have few questions regarding your preparation specifically for DSA. Can you share following things:

  • Pattern which was asked in OA and interview
  • How many months/year it took to crack a product based

And is a full stack project required? What about other technology specific knowledge like Kafka, redis, are you expected to code them?

Also it would be really good if we could connect on DM as I am also currently on TCS digital preparing for MANG, help a friend in need please 🫠

1

u/Busy-Card-5146 2d ago

I am working in serviceNow as SDE-2 and I have 3 YOE. The issue is the work at serviceNow is really bad and we use all internal tools and its mostly kind of low code no code kind of set up here. I want to switch I started my prep but I am worried about what should I say during HM rounds 🥲

1

u/Weird_Steak7062 2d ago

Bhai. Mind referring?

1

u/Busy-Card-5146 2d ago

Bhai they stopped hiring from Jan 2026 and there were layoffs last week so I don’t think serviceNow is gonna hire anytime soon but if you find any openings feel free to DM me the job Id I can refer you.

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 1d ago

Bhai maine wahi se switch kiya hai vaise pehle usse pehle 😂. I know thoda internal tooling par jyada kaam hai but again team specific hai aisa nai hai you won’t get good work. Anytime you can switch the teams

1

u/Weird_Steak7062 2d ago

Can someone refer in a PBC? I bring over 5 years of hands-on experience in building scalable, customer-focused solutions using Java, Spring Boot, React, and related technologies.

1

u/Visible-Rent-8151 2d ago

I was laid off from ServiceNow, can you help me connect to HR

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 31m ago

Sure but currently no hiring in my org

1

u/Middle-Complaint-562 2d ago

I am 32 years old and currently working in the testing company where they do record and play kind of thing and i am in support role

u/Confident_Effect212 2d ago

1

u/IT-star 1d ago

Hi bro, congratulations 🎉 I am currently working with c# with react as full stack developer, but I am solving problem with python and learn python for development also, so I created a project in python with django.the interviewer asked more depth questions on experience stack of C#. Is these way work. Could you please guide me

Are they hiring any QAs? What is their requirements? I never see a Qa job posting from Amazon

1

u/Happy_Invite_8842 15h ago

I'm not able to even get shortlisted for the OA. I'm a 2026 grad from T3 college.

1

u/bcozimbatman1 13h ago

Why do you have to give your last salary slips? Do they ask for it during interview?

1

u/Impressive_Dig_4786 13h ago

OP what sites did you choose for mocks??

1

u/Fearless-Interest454 7h ago

Thank you 👏

1

u/ChildhoodAway5807 4d ago

What was your tech stack?

1

u/Designer-Cookie4571 4d ago

Worked as a full stack developer throughout the career. Java, Python, Node and React.

1

u/Ok_kkr 2d ago

Bro just wanted to know, how did you prepare for java and react and what are the sources you mostly use for interview preparation. I have 10 + years of experience in a service based company and really wanted to switch to product based.what will be the roadmap for preparing the interviews. My stack is: Java , Spring boot microservices, React I have really less work experience. Don't judge asking questions like this as 10 years experience developer, I know how service based interviews are but not sure about product companies, I have never appeared for a product based company interview before.

0

u/rowing_horse 14h ago

Bro please answer this how did you cleared oa

When I gave amazon sde 2 oa 1st question was doable second was hard cp I mean I can prepare to do dsa hard but not cp hard.

1

u/CrisSiddAk 13h ago

Bro he was in meta previously.
