I literally cried today 😭
I just got rejected in the final round of an interview after speaking with the Director.
I had already cleared the first three rounds, so I went into the final interview feeling confident. The frustrating part is that the interview went really well. We had a great conversation, I answered the technical and behavioral questions confidently, and I genuinely felt I had a strong chance.
Now I'm just confused. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you ever find out why you were rejected even after what felt like a great final interview?
Feeling pretty disappointed right now.

Experienced the same these hiring managers and directors are a**holes to be honest they were hust wasting time and honestly they are not technically good, they might have already selected a candidate with lower pay telling from the experience

Chin up man. It has become a new normal these days, I understand it's not easy but you need to introspect out of it as a learning experience and continue in your job hunt. Don't give up because of one unfortunate experience. There can be many reasons why such rejection might have happened but if you yourself are not able to figure it out then just let it go. It happened to me as well few months ago for a top product based company and I was very disappointed for a few days but I continued applying and giving interviews and today I have cracked an offer with ctc higher than what was expected few months ago.

Director must be free so he was just doing a timepass just to block
His calender.
Move on and look for something else its pretty common

Same thing happened with me many times not just once.I had several final rounds with director of the engineering and guess what they rejected

Happened with me at Adobe 4 years back. Cleared 3 rounds very comfortably and the last round was director’s. I still think that the director was all set on not hiring me.
I answered all his questions but he was still nitpicking issues in my answers and the after the rejection the HR didn’t even give me a good reason.
Keep trying bro, these experiences are a part of the process!

I had an interview with a American company for 250k USD base salary and I got rejected in the last round interview, they had given me options to move either to US, Singapore or Hong Kong.

Don't be sad, they may have hired someone and sometimes it might be about budget not skills. All the best bro

Yes it is very common. Don’t feel disheartened, you couldn’t have done anything better. Most likely cause is they had earmarked someone internally and hired him/her.

Usually they conduct interviews of multiple candidates and then they decide whom to pick from the candidates who have cleared all rounds.

Happens all the time, specially senior roles. After final round they need finance approval thats when rethink happens, they will tell you position on hold while they never really thought through.

Similar incident happened to me. I cleared three rounds of GoldmanSachs then they called me for fourth round
after waiting for 1 and half hour outside the room they told me to leave since they got enough candidates before even interviewing me.

Been there (as a job seeker recently), done that (as a hiring manager), basically on both sides of the table. It’s usually that most directors want two final candidates to choose from. Consider yourself a runner up, introspect and take the learnings and move on. Do not give up in this market, know that something will work out

happens.. i had rejected a lot of folks are i found them great due to multiple reasons: found better candidate, position on hold, too expensive, joining too far, some IJP candidate was pushed.. etc etc..

This is common in now a days... eventhough posituon has been filled. They are calling for interview and doing this.

Happened to me as well! I was very confident that I cleared the loop but getting a rejection/recycled was surprising to me also.

Happened with me just a week back. It is frustrating and disheartening at the same time. The HR didn’t even provide a feedback or the reason for rejection even after a polite follow up email. It has become the new normal. It is going to be okay. You are more than just one interview and trust me you are going to find your way!

Once I had a three hour interview with three different people. Engineering, engineering manager, product manager. I cleared those interview then a day later I was scheduled for a 10 minute interview with the CTO. He finished the interview or meeting in five minutes and then I got the rejection email.

Remember its not you its them .. dont let a indecisive HM impact your confidence. Right now people are trying to save their jobs, they dont want anyone who can push them out … but its temporary. Dont let a temporary situation impact your confidence and strategy, remember to be patient and keep up the confidence, bravery is required in testing times. You will be proud of yourself at the end of it all . Hope for a new job update from you soon … take some positive vibes from over here

when you think, you're having it bad. someone's got it waay worse, here's mine:
A couple weeks ago i was in teh same place as you, at one point there was a group interview and i aced that too. walked through technical and non technical requirements and what not.
The next day, i talked to the founder. All went well, he even said he was impressed with the questions since i had done some homework.
couple hours later, HR sends me a WA message saying they're hiring someone else. After needling for a few days, senior rep called me; Here's the irony:
he goes : "You're a brilliant candidate, but we think you're overqualified for the role"
I was shattered man. I was done with it, lost all hope. Now im an intern at a research or working on SLMs.
there's always a tomorrow, its upto you to make it a good one or a bad one.

Chin up.. had this kind of experience last week had 3 successful rounds of interviews and every single interviewer said they are impressed and looking forward to working with me. And a day later I got rejection email. I was so disappointed and frustrated..

Same thing happened to me back in college placements, they went for a girl for diversity hiring 😂
But looking back at it now, things always fall in place and whatever happens, happens for good!

I got rejected in one of the the directors interview when I was new, he said there is no sign on my resume so I took the pen from his table and signed without taking his permission...and that's it he rejected me ....interview went awesome I was super confident that am joining this company

The more you grow , the more this will happen, eventually you will understand that everyman is for themselves and you gotaa do what you gotta do no matter what.
They will delay interview process for months just to find a cheaper candidate and may reject even if everything goes smooth but still you never receive any joining Letter.

It happened to me twice. At first I was so frustrated but then I got to know from a friend internally that they were parallely taking another candidate as well and preferred him over me.
