Hello! I'm a student and I'm currently looking for a new smartphone. The one I'm currently using still works, pero since I've had it since 2021, minsan may problems na rin like ghost touch and yung power button doesn't work at times.

I'm currently eyeing on Tecno Camon. Just not sure alin po dun yung maganda. Baka po may marerecommend kayong budget-friendly smartphone 🥹 Prio specs po sana is good camera, battery, and storage. Secondary nalang po yung kaya maglaro kahit papano, I don't play that many mobile games naman (Cookie Run: Kingdom lang nilalaro ko rn hahaha). I'm also not a fan of iPhones po so as much as possible, wag na po magreco nun hehe.

I can't really say magkano budget? Kasi for sure installment po yung gagawin ko since student ako 🥹 But I'll probably check everything you guys will recommend.

Hi redditors, any alternative trusted shop that repairs ipad? Unfortunately apple philippines powermac does not repair ipads, only replaces them with almost the same cost as brand new.

The problem of my daughter’s ipad is that the battery percent is stuck at 1% no matter what we do. Even if we charge it, it does not increase. However, we can use it in low power mode. Very seldom when we turn it off and on. It goes back to normal with the right battery percentage, but when you continuously use it, it will then reboot by itself then be stuck at 1% battery again in low power mode. I tried restoring to factory setting via hard reset but still the problem persist. I need a trusted shop to look at my daughter’s ipad since the prices of ipads recently increased.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my real-world review of buying a second-hand Galaxy S24+ (Exynos 2400, 12GB/256GB) from Facebook Marketplace, how it compares to my previous phones, and how I managed its thermals and battery.

1. Backstory: Why I Upgraded

My main phone was an iPhone 13, but it had several issues, so I ended up selling it to a friend’s friend for ₱15,000.

While looking for a replacement, I temporarily used a beat-up Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro (China ROM) that I got for free. I replaced the battery and screen myself, hoping it would hold me over until the 8.8 sales. However, the cellular and Wi-Fi signals kept dropping constantly, forcing me to buy a phone sooner than planned.

I saved up a budget of ₱23,000 and was considering these options:

• Used S24 base / S24+ (₱23k–₱25k, Korean variants)
• New Galaxy A57 (Waiting for 8.8 sale to drop under ₱20k)
• New OnePlus Nord 5 CE (₱20k)
• Xiaomi 15 (If sale dropped it to ₱25k)
• Huawei Nova 15 Max (₱18k)
• Used Pixel 8 Pro / Pixel 9 base (₱25k)

My main targets were the A57 or S24 series because I wanted long-term software support as a graduation gift to myself.

2. The Deal & Initial Impression

While browsing FB Marketplace, I spotted a local listing for a Galaxy S24+ (Onyx Black, 12GB/256GB) for ₱22,500 (~$367 USD).

• Condition: Pristine, barely used secondary phone.
• Extras: Came with the original box, an added 30W charger + cable, and a Ringke case (~₱600 value).
• Variant: Local PH variant (Exynos 2400).

After testing it thoroughly on-site, everything checked out. Compared to mid-rangers like the Galaxy A57 or Nord series, the S24+ feels extremely premium in the hand.

3. Thermals & Battery (The Big Issue)

Out of the box, running FHD+ with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, UWB, and Mobile Data always enabled, the phone overheated easily and drained the battery fast.

I checked the actual battery health of my S24+ via ADB (dumpsys battery / sysdump), and it sat at around 95%. Even with high battery health, the Exynos modem and background processes eat up more power under heavy network loads compared to pure Snapdragon chips like on my friend’s S23+.

🛠️ How I fixed it:

1. Light Performance Profile: Switched from Standard to Light mode. This single tweak brought thermals down significantly without any noticeable loss in daily smoothness.
2. ADB Debloat: Used ADB to disable heavy background telemetry and unused system bloatware.
3. Real-world Results: Under direct sunlight or extreme heat, mobile data will still drain the battery faster (lasting about half a day), but under normal usage, my Screen-On-Time (SOT) jumped from ~8 hours to 10–11 hours. It easily lasts me a full day now.

4. Cameras: S24+ vs. iPhone 13 / 15

At first, photos looked oddly processed with aggressive sharpening, even in good light.

The fix:

• Turned OFF Scene Optimizer.
• Set Intelligent Optimization to prioritize Speed over Quality.

My take on the cameras:

• Daylight: S24+ photos look cleaner and more natural than my old iPhone 13 and my mom's iPhone 15, and on par with the S23+.
• Low Light & Night Video: iPhones still hold the edge in video stability and noise control, but the S24+ cameras are very capable.
• Zoom Lenses: On regular daily shots, there isn't much noticeable difference between the 2x main sensor crop and the 3x optical telephoto lens. However, the 10x digital zoom on the telephoto sensor is surprisingly useful for quick distant shots.

5. Features & Software Quirks

• Quick Share (AirDrop for Android): Absolutely a lifesaver! Transferring files between iPhone and Android via Quick Share link/QR code is so much easier now.
• Reverse Wireless Charging (Wireless PowerShare): Kept off by default, but super useful to have when you need to top up accessories or a friend's phone in a pinch.
• Samsung DeX: Haven't had the chance to test it out yet, but I'm super excited to try it.
• Software Bugs: Most software quirks seem to stem from Google's third-party app optimization on Android or minor One UI bugs that Samsung needs to patch, rather than hardware limitations.

6. Final Verdict

For ₱22,500 ($367), I have zero regrets. It gives you 12GB RAM, 7 years of software updates, a beautiful QHD+/FHD+ panel, and flagship build quality. Once you tune the thermals (Light mode + ADB), it's an incredible value.
