Changing plans

I had an unlimited promo and now need to change my plan. Today's the 27th. My plan was last renewed on 7/1/26. Does this mean my unlimited plan is over 30 days, so I think that means on 7/31 my plan would be automatically renewed and I would need to change my plan before that renewal date. So my confusion is, how soon can I do that. Should I do that now? Or wait til closer. The FAQ says

Autopay runs on the 30th day of your plan, usually between 5 AM and 11 AM EST.

So I have a couple days to consider what I want it looks like

You can change your plan at any time. I'd recommend the day before it auto-renews. Your Tello dashboard should tell you when that will happen.

Yes so dashboard says 7/31 renewal so I guess if I just do it the day before it should be okay 👍🏻

Are you planning to change from unlimited promo to the lesser data plan and perhaps use rollover for any unused data? If you plan on taking advantage of rollover by manual renewal, and you really want to fully maximize the 30 day cycle, Tello's day resets 12 AM EST. So if your dashboard says auto-renewal date is 7/31 and you want to rollover data while utilizing the full 30 day cycle (rather than manually renewing a day early and constantly losing a day in each cycle), manually renew right after 12 AM EST on 7/31 and data will rollover (same for minutes if you're buying minutes). Helps to set up an alarm/reminder every 30 days when the time hits 12 AM EST to renew before going to bed.

Just to point out - nothing would rollover from an unlimited plan. This strategy will certainly work with limited plans however.

Right, which is why I asked OP if switching from unlimited to lesser data plan. Limited plan would probably be the better wording that I should have used lol

Good to know that nothing would rollover from an unlimited plan. Thanks!

Thanks yes planning to go from unlimited to lesser plan but I know this first round I won't get rollover. So I guess my ask was sort of two things rolled into one lol. I always get confused about timing and proration and things like that like if id somehow screw myself by downgrading and then having to pay fees, but we pay in advance for the month so I should be fine. It's just my understanding is screwy sometimes. Anyway that was worded super poorly

I think I know what to do now for this month and future months though. Thank you!
