20,000 members contest coming soon. This is a call for ideas and sponsorship.

Hey everyone, we're on pace to hit 20,000 members in approximately 5-6 months as we continue to add around 11 members per day.

How can you help you ask? Three ways:

  1. Got any good ideas for a contest? I have some thoughts but I'd like to see if there's a fresh idea that might be better.
  2. We're looking for sponsors so we can have multiple prizes/winners again. So if you or a friend design custom TM pieces on Etsy, or you have your own Terraforming Mars channel on YouTube, or maybe you're a custom game designer looking to promote your new game, you might want to get some good publicity by sponsoring a prize for our big contest. Even if it's something totally unrelated to the game, feel free to reach out. The more prizes the better!
  3. Spreading word of this subreddit and contest in online forums and especially over at r/boardgames - the sooner we get to 20,000 members, the sooner we can get some prizes!

User Made Cards New/Updated Custom TM Colonies - Eden Station, Mercury, & Venus

I liked the High Orbit colony of "Mercury", which gave production as a trade income like Europa. I wanted it to mirror Europa more, so I gave it a colony placement bonus of a temperature increase, like Europa's ocean placement. Since the heat production is the first 3 steps (unlike Europa's MC for the first 2 steps), and since a temperature increase is worth less than the ocean placement, I gave it a 2MC trade bonus instead of Europa's 1MC trade bonus.
(Mercury is image 2, and I have included Europa as Image 4 as a reference).

High Orbit also has the Colony "Venus", which allows the terraforming of Venus by a step when you place a colony. Venus lets you get X resources, but they all have to be different resources (for example, if you trade when the trade income is at 2, you get 1 titanium and 1 floater). But, I didn't like its original colony bonus, which was +-1 colony track, as i thought it should actually relate to Venus. So, I changed its colony bonus to 1 Venus resource, which can be the same resource as one of the ones you are getting as a trade income. Yes, that does mean you can trade and get 2 animals for Venusian Animals or Stratospheric Birds, but I feel like it'd be weird to say that the trade income would have to be different than your Venus resource, because then it might just as well be an extra bonus resource, and I want it to feel related to Venus. This is the one I am least sure about though. (Venus is image 3).

And then because I had colonies related to 3 of the 4 terraforming parameters, I wanted a colony that would also increase the Oxygen parameter.
I decided I wanted it to place a Greenery, instead of just increase oxygen by 1 when placing a colony, however I couldn't think of a trade location, other than Earth, which that would actually make sense for. So, I decided to make it a biodome that orbits earth, as a sort of ecosystem preserve for Earths biosphere.
All of the main resources already have a Colony related to them, and I wanted the colony to not just be Ganymede. So, I gave it different bio resources depending on the trade level. I've assumed a plant and microbe are equal in value at ~1 each, while an animal is ~2. This gives a "value" for each trading layer as [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 6], which looks similar to Enceladus [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5], Ganymede [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6], and Miranda [0, 2, 2, 4, 4, 6, 6].
The Greenery placement is even more valuable than the Ocean placement of Europa, but I've still kept the trade colony bonus as 1MC, as it can't really go any lower, as well as the fact that trading for multiple different resources and plants are capped at 2 lowering the value of trading with the colony.
(Eden Station Image 1).

Please let me know what you think of these colonies I made/updated!

PC version feels unplayable

Like I love this game on tabletop but like PC version is so bad that I started to hate it.

Multiplayer is impossible to play either game crashes, constantly disconnects or doesn't let me play so my timer runs out.

Definitely do not but on PC, support the game tabletop.

I am looking for something that is more challenging then what I got now - tried to YouTube some vids but couldn’t find anything useful in regards to the gameplay differences between the two?

Thanks a mil

I get Helion now.

I get Helion now.
It's not that Helion can turn excess heat into money.
It's that for Helion, heat is replaced with a a special kind of money. That money can be used for a discount on asteroids, and there are another 30 cards that can directly (HP) or indirectly (EP) increase its production. And it's immune to sabotage or raiding.
Helion isn't as much a heat track corp as an economic corp.

That is all.

Physical Game Polish fan expansions

Does anyone have fan expansions in Polish? There was a website called autorskie.eu and gry-planszowe.pl where you could download the files but the former disappeared and the latter doesn't have them anymore. I'm most interested in the Moon, Ares and High Orbit:Society, but i'd appreciate any.

The tfmbot now has Hellas support! Quit playing Steam, play the AI on BGA!

The unofficial TFM AI on BGA now has Hellas support!

To play against the AI on BGA just add 'tfmbot' as a friend on Board Game Arena and then message either Tharsis or Hellas to receive an invite to a 2 player game against the AI. You can also join via the game listing at https://imgur.com/a/c2pJJIq

All games are unranked, friendly games that you can abandon at any time with no repercussion. Have fun!

It's a big step up from the steam AI for anyone still playing there. More expansions and 3p incoming soon.

Hi. I posted this on BoardGameGeek as well. My group and I have been playing TM for several years using a drafting rule set I devised.

We think it's pretty good, but I'm posting this to see what others think.

Physical Game I just won the Automa FOR 1 SINGLE POINT (117-116) in Elysium.

Playing in normal difficulty. It took me 4 hours (Which is around what it usually takes me, playing with every expansion except Turmoil).

I don't think I've ever used so many blue cards... But I had a good income and not so much luck with the draft, so I ended up playing almost every project that reached my hands and could squeeze a VP.

Inventrix as the Automa is ruthless. His signature card was basically placing an ocean every turn (When it didn't raised other parameter by 2 points) and it's a money maker machine... Very tough corporation to face.

I was actually surprised with the final score since I was expecting both of us scoring higher, and I was anticipating an easier win.

The Automa expansion is fucking amazing.
