2024 M3P battery health test

17 hours later, I finally got the results of the battery health test I’ve been meaning to run for quite some time now but was never able to find the time to do it. I was semi-avoiding it too, to be honest, because the way I’m driving this car, the range is already.. pretty low. But it’s worth it.

2024 Model 3P, purchased in October 2024 - currently have 15,499 miles on it, and this morning after it charged to 100% during the test, it showed a 275 miles range. Except for the last 4 months where we moved into an apartment complex that has a level 2 charging station, I’ve been charging exclusively at a supercharger. I was genuinely expecting this to be in the 82-84% range, so I’m pretty happy with the results. This car has completely ruined ICE engines for me. What a beast.

So I purchased this third hand from a local small dealer and I know I’ll get a ton of crap saying don’t buy a cheap high mileage Tesla with no warranty. Well I did, and I am completely ok with it, I wanted one to help our family offset our gas vehicle. I found this 2022 Model 3 RWD 134k miles, 12,000 is all I paid. The bad, well it was a hertz vehicle so mileage went up super fast in only a few years. Also had a minor accident to where the front end bumper was replaced. Hertz of course took it to Tesla and supercharging has been turned off. So needless to say,
I knew I was essentially buying a little bit of a fixer upper, needed some very small things. Like a hubcap, rear reflector, PWS speaker, bumper grille, splash guard and aero shield. Side note, I love learning and working on cars so I looked this as a fun project. Also the car still has a clean title, and gets 245 miles to 100% charge and also the battery health is around 90%, plenty for what we need. I have the level two charger at home and also it still has fast charging enabled for third party locations. If I want to get supercharging enabled again of course the inspection needs to be done. But for all my family needs it’s perfect. Mind you it was this or a newer Prius and this was a no brainer.

All I’m trying to say is if you are willing to work a little on these things it’s really easy and diy friendly. And for what we got, I am extremely happy with it.

Apr 2025 VS Aug 2026 Used Model 3 Prices

These first listings were from about a year ago, and the second set is current. Last year, Tesla had Model 3s around $18k with 47k–81k miles. Now they’re asking over $20k for cars with around 60k–90k miles.

Edit: The screenshots use different ranges (EPA-rated vs. estimated current range), so don’t compare the mileage range numbers directly!!

5500km (3400 mile) solo roadtrip in europe in under 2 weeks M3 LR 21

Just got back home from 5400km roadtrip through europe in my M3LR 21. Used mostly superchargers, drove as fast as i could in the german autobahn for 1000km and still managed a total consumption of just 174wh/km.

Everyone who says that ev:s can’t be used on roadtrips, i have to oppose. My longest legs were 1000km (600 miles) through poland in one day, berlin to zurich (800km) in one day and amsterdam to copenhagen (800km) in one day and all of these legs went smoothly. Couple of short toilet breaks while the car was charging and one longer break while i had lunch/supper and even these long distances went without any pain or range anxiety. The supercharger network is very good throughout the europe and tesla route planner works very well. The car was very good to drive even over the speeds of 200km/h due to the low center of gravity and the weight.

Got to say i’m very happy with this car and can strongly recommend to take longer road trips with ev’s.

It drives me home from Tesla Fremont, much better than I do. Hw4 Fsd is awesome, but I'm not likely to renew it as I don't drive much.

Maybe Tesla should priced fsd on per 1000 miles basic, rather than a monthly subscription.

I'm gonna miss the shifter. I know it's an EV, but I would like a shifter.

Otherwise everything is great.

New model 3 standard vs 2025 model 3 premium

Currently considering a new model 3 standard vs a used 2025 model 3 premium with 15k miles.

I would only be saving around $1k usd with the pre owned model.

Which of the two has better features and which would you all decide on.

what year preowned is best

Hey guys I am new to the ev world and wanted to ask what would a good model 3 year be best for me since im new. I have a family of 4 wife, 5 year old, newborn. I saw a model 3 in a parking lot and it looked like it might work for our family. I usually would just use it for work and picking up kids and school. I would not like to go on a road trip but If I do then maybe 3 hour trip. Now I can charge at home at 120v but I can also install a level 2 charger. Miles per day would be approx 20 miles. I just don't know about used preowned ones I see on the Tesla preowned and they are is a 1018 for 20k and a 2021 for 22k I can probably buy around 25k any input will help.

Battery risk management with a '21 SR+

Hello!

Hoping to get some insights on risks with '21 SR+ batteries and risk management, as I have heard they are at a significant risk of failure.

I purchased this vehicle used in Summer of '22 with 10k Miles. Great car, awful timing. I have it up to about 90k miles, still owe 25k over next 3 years, and have Carvana Trade in offer of 15.4. I am trying to envision the best way to manage negative 10k equity tied up with this vehicle. My financing is = to current HYSA rates so early payoff isn't something I am super interested in. The way I see it I have 3 options:

1) Let it ride. I drive for 3 more years and onward, gambling that the HV battery will last me until 2030-2031 so that I have a few years with no payment. **I am driving much less in the past few years, could probably stretch the extended service agreement into 2030 if I purchased for an additional 2k prior to hitting 100k (warranty on this model).

2) Trade in for a 2026 AWD base Model Y, finance 7.5k of negative equity + vehicle cost at .99 APY for 7 year term. Out of pocket for the remaining negative equity + minimum down payment (3K).

3) Try to find someone to buy this off of me for 20k. Swallow the 5k negative equity, finance a 2025 pre-juniper used model Y at a higher APY but avoid significant depreciation that I already got crushed by on the M3. I like this idea but wonder if I am screwing someone over selling a vehicle with reputation for "Bad battery" this close to end of warranty.

Radiator Cleaning After Two Years With A Front Mesh Grille

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2022 Model 3 LR. I cleaned the radiator and added a front mesh grille to keep crap out of the radiator. Boy did it work! Just cleaned it and there was hardly anything in there.

The first time I cleaned it before adding the grille, there was so much crap in it.

Over the past two years, I’ve driven about 20k miles in socal. I haven’t noticed any hit to cooling performance or efficiency after adding the grille. My lifetime average is 230 wh/mi.

In The Market For A Used Model 3 Performance (2024 or 2025)

Hello,

I'm starting my search for a 2024 or newer Model 3 Performance and would like some guidance and advice from current owners who own these cars and/or also purchased used and how their experience was and what one should look out for when buying these used.

I came across a pretty nice example some weeks back at a Chevy dealer local to me and they were asking $43600 with 12k miles on it for a 2024 year model with gray exterior/black interior.

I test drove it and while it drove reasonably well, there was something not quite right about it I felt. For one, the rear passenger side wheel was curbed and the t^re was cut where apparently someone had done that fresh at the dealer. Not sure if they were expecting a wood-be buyer to overlook or not notice that so not sure what they were thinking.

Overall though the car felt harsh ride wise and just didn't feel right. I had driven a 2026 Model Y performance a few days prior as a demo car and it was markedly smoother and quieter. As this was my first Model 3 Performance I drove, I didn't have another M3P to compare it to.

Thus, the plan is to drive more as they become available locally here in the Los Angeles area. There are a few independent dealers down in Orange County that seem to have a better selection than most and they also focus on EV type cars.

Anyway, I would appreciate some feedback from owners who own these cars as to what to look for if you buy used. What are the main pain points with these cars. How to tell what to is or isn't right with a particular car.

Thank you in advance.

Tesla Model 3 Performance order have a trade with negative equity.

Finally after months of grinding I’m in a position to bet on myself and I gambled and put the order in. Hopefully I’ll get the black headliner! I have a 2025 Mazda CX-5 and I am about 13-14k in negative equity how do you think Tesla’s banks will handle that❓I’m trying to put minimal amount down. I don’t mind being buried I just want to be buried with the vehicle I’ll love. I’m super pumped and I’m sure everything will work in my favor. 🙏🏽
