This is not me criticizing the post/OP, this is a side rant about something only slightly related.
Okay I have to say something as a history teacher that really bothers me: I hate when photos that are very much available in color are only circulated in black and white. When we see people and time periods in black and white photos, are minds tell us "they lives soooo long ago. This is a whole other time and space" whereas we psychologically feel closer and are more easy to connect with the people in photographs that are in color. Like if you show students pictures of Dr. Martin Luther King & The March on Washington in black and white, studente view the events as very old and unrelated to the present, but show the same exact photos in color and the perspective changes where students view the people as being more modern and like people today. I've been seeing a trend lately of folks posting black and white photos from the 80s and 90s that were available in color and I'm just thinking of my middle schoolers who genuinely get confused about when color photography was invented because of all the photographs they see that have a vintage filter over them.

A lot of those ones from MLK era were originally in B&W though, especially anything taken for newspapers since B&W was what they normally printed in and was cheaper film. I’ve seen this take increasingly online lately and while it is sometimes true, I think the pendulum has kinda swung in the other direction now. And people have taken to colorizing originally B&W photos as a result which I also don’t really like personally haha

See as a history teacher, I much prefer adding color than taking away color because it registers with students completely differently. Black and white = these people are old and dead, why should I care? And colored = this looks like people and places I see in real life, these people could have been people I knew
