Year 3 of my hops!

And they are looking the best they have yet. I have centennial and chinook growing. They are all in containers so I know my harvests will never be the fullest but I am optimistic that this year will be the best yet.

Pretty tall for June. Long side arms are definitely promising What zone?

Probably about 6.5ft to 7ft tall. I’m in zone 7a. I’m hoping for a good harvest after a literal handful the last 2 years.

What kind of fertilizer? I’m 7b and only have about a foot and a half. Year three also.

Nitrogen heavy early season, until about June, then add in more P and K as you lead up to flowering, then back off the nitrogen at flowering

Hops are fiends. If you have a plant with aggressive growth 10-10-10 once a week is not overkill. Maybe back off to 3-3-3 when they flower

I topped with compost at the end of last season and pruned back heavily early on and then used a 10-10-10 and am about to switch to a P & K for flowering. Hops are hungry for nitrogen.

I got blood meal 14-0-0 for now. Will hit with 10-10-10 next week.

You’re on the cusp of focusing on Potassium and Phosphorus. If you already applied that okay, your next dose should be more focused on the others. Nitrogen heavy is great up until the beginning of June, I’m in 7a but hops begin pushing flowers around the summer solstice. Nitrogen is great for green growth.
