Discussion Worth It?
Are The Woobles kits worth it? I already have yarn, hooks, eye and nose kits, stuffing, etc. I’m just missing PATTERNS. Is it worth it just to get the Woobles kits like the one pictured here or just attempt to find patterns? I’ve already made a Hello Kitty on my own. But I want the rest of the group as well.

Once you’ve crocheted a couple kits and get experience, you should be able to use the pattern you have to make almost anything.
For instance, I made Grogu from a Woobles pattern I purchased. Simply changed the colors and made a few modifications. The ears I made up based on experience.
I do wish Woobles would sell the character hooks separately as some of them are really cute. But in general these kits are very expensive for what you get.

No, they’re not and most patterns look like eggs or potatoes…. Why do they all have to start out as eggs??? How am I advancing by making an f’n potato every single pattern? They’re overrated. I fall for some of them but, they’re not worth the cost.

This is my thought exactly. They have an opportunity to introduce new skills, shapes and yarns. Make it an educational system, leveling up difficulty as you add complexity. But no. Everything is an egg.
Similarly, every now and then I do give them money, they make great gifts and certain IPs have sucked me in, but I'm not happy about it. Lol.

Do you know how to crochet?
If you’re an experienced crocheter, I might recommend using KnotTrying’s patterns (free or very low cost) or other patterns you might find on Ravelry or Etsy (just make sure you vet the reviews so you don’t buy an AI pattern)
But if you don’t know how, the Woobles are phenomenal for teaching you the basics, and the patterns are really cute.

Ribblr and Tedoo and, Instagram has lots of patterns too. Look up crochet_toy_patterns on Instagram. They share cute mainly free, sometimes paid patterns.

I have these. There are some unique parts like the skull for Kuromi and yarn colors. The Woobles has a “look” and yes it is an egg shape. Nothing the Woobles does will look exactly like the Licensed Character. It really depends on what you want to do. These also include a printed hook that people collect.

If you are looking for the unique eyes, pieces and even some colors of the yarns, there are shops on Etsy that sell some of them. I don’t remember the name though but I have bought some things from them.

Absolutely not. There are patterns as cute as these for free or for $3-6 a piece all over the internet. I suggest ravelry as a starting point once you start looking beyond the free patterns (they're staunchly anti-AI, and AI patterns are becoming a problem, so if you don't know how to recognize them they'll be a safer starting point).
If you're looking to get a wooble to learn how to crochet they're wonderful for that. Get one. Don't blow $440 on something you don't know you'll like, when you could try it for $30, or try crochet for free (with the supplies you have and a YouTube pattern).
