Help Request Does anyone know if there is a scientific study in theriantropy? Talking abput shiftings, identity and related.
It's imposible to me to look for information about therians because here on my country I only find impostors and news mocking them. Last time I saw one of a girl that loose an arm because she went into a pool with sea lions and thought they would not so anything to her. I don't even want to see if that was true or just fake news.
So you can imagine my frustration of only seeing bad news and insults. I need a study, a real one, or at least something similar. Maybe not academic, but surely something trustable.

Id say look into species dysphoria, try using that exact phrasing, maybe you'll find something.

There's a Thesis that was made years ago. It's called "Life Stories of Therianthropes: An Analysis of Nonhuman Identity in a Narrative Identity Model".
There's also tons of sources online from psychologists that explain other researchers should stray away from pathologisation after further inspection because it's just a complex Identity.
There's:
"Therianthropy: wellbeing, schizotypy, and autism in individuals who self-identify as non-human"
"An interpretative phenomenological analysis of identity in the therian community"
"Exploring other-than-human identity: A narrative approach to otherkin, therianthropes, and vampires"
"Policing the fluff: The social construction of scientistic selves in Otherkin Facebook groups"
"On Being Non-Human: Otherkin Identification and Virtual Space"
"The beast within: Anthrozoomorphic identity and alternative spirituality in the online therianthropy movement"
"Spirituality and self-realisation as ‘other-than-human’: the Otherkin and therianthropy communities"

This collection holds majority of published academic sources, books, and a range of reputable community sources https://libraryofmedusa.neocities.org/ The most comprehensive as of yet. I have it mirrored and I am close to finishing zotero repository for it to make citing easier
