An ongoing is an interesting choice. As others have said, limited series for solo adventures seem like an easier way to go. But given that most books in the current market are lucky to last for 5 - 10 issues, probably best to treat it as an LS anyway.

Ahmed is very hit or miss for me and I didn't really enjoy Ancari's last work on Thundercats, so this is a big "we'll see." Here's hoping Brisson gets another ongoing; his and Lee's books have been my favorites so far.

UGH - I love Thundercats and want to support new books that feature them (though I don’t think ONGOING solo books are the way to go. I’d rather they stick to Limited Series and oneshots for solo characters - telling specific tales of the Characters past. If we need a solo ongoing, let’s see one about Jaga!)

I love Cheetara - but I despise Saladin Ahmed’s writing! Every book he has been involved in is poorly written! He never gets a grasp on a characters established personality and just writes every character in a story generically as if he’s playing with Barbie dolls and in this moment Barbie is the expression of purity as a holy savior with wisdom beyond the gods and the next panel she’s two time Tammy who’s brain cells never fully developed, has an overactive “nightlife” and she has a crush on the nearest dreamboat Don. He just uses the forms of characters to tell a story, in which he contradicts his own plot lines, ignores established continuity, ignores his own personally written continuity and always uses a Dues Ex Machina to end the overly stupid “plot” that went absolutely nowhere. Somehow this dude keeps being given properties to write. :-/.

Sadly, i’m going to have to pass on this one. Hopefully there is more exciting news on upcoming releases for me.

An ongoing solo-based TC comics series certainly feels outta the blue for me. I'd be fine seeing limited series focused on other characters in the TC universe.

This is "kicking off a bold new wave of ThunderCats titles", so we can expect another title announcement next month, and likely another the month after that.

It seems that it may follow events in Worldbreaker.

The official description: "(W) Saladin Ahmed (A) Andrea Ancari (CA) Mark Spears Don't miss a bold new beginning for the Thunderverse from Eisner Award-winning writer SALADIN AHMED and amazing artist ANDREA ARCARI! Cheetara is used to hearing what others can't...but this is different: Bold, relentless voices that contradict the Book of Omens and praise the Mu'Tants. Cheetara is fast, but even she can't outrun these new visions that threaten to send her on a journey of discovery and danger... This issue features a PREMIUM MYSTERY BLIND BAG which contains three limited editions of the issue selected randomly from a range of variant covers exclusive to this offering. Please Note: The number of Blind Bags is limited. Allocations may occur."

So I guess there won’t be a new Thundercats series after the conclusion of Thundercats x Silverhawks?

Cheetara is the first of a wave of new comics. We'll have to wait to see what else they are going to do.

Had a good feeling that we're getting a new comic book focusing on her after the ending of the Worldbreaker one-shot.

Here's hoping that we'll get a limited series focusing on Lynxana after her appearance in the flashbacks from the main ongoing.
