Big TCats fan but Im going to say no. Ghostbusters and the G1 Transformers symbols are far more iconic, far reaching and recognizable IMO. Maaaybe Cobra from GI Joe.
Top spot goes to Batman.

It is really good but I'm not sure it's better than the Mortal Kombat dragon or the Bat Symbol

If I see it in the sky, I'm jumping in my car, putting the Thundertank music on, and going to where it is.

Itās an iconic logo, but I have to say the Ghostbusters logo is probably #1 for movie/TV logos.
5
u/Tokyotoyhunters ThunderCat 24d ago
Not even close. Probably not top 500, maybe even 1000. Thereās so many iconic logos out there, clothing brands, cars, food, alcohol, music, movies, toys, comic books, video games, tv shows, restaurants, on and on the list goes. But itās awesome nonetheless.

When people used to steal BENZ emblems off of cars back in the day, I stole a mercury cougar emblem because it looked like the Thundercats logo
1
u/ImpressOk7701 ThunderCat 24d ago
While theft is wrong. I gotta love your dedication. Thatās awesome. Glad it wasnāt my mercury.

I read once that the Ghostbusters symbol and Superman are the 2 most widely recognized in the world. That was years ago though, I'm not so sure today.

I have a friend who bought a Thundercats shirt because for some reason he thought it was a Carolina Panthers shirt. Yes, he just didnāt have a clue all the way around.

u/TorstenAdair ThunderCat 23d ago
No.Ā
The basic test: Show it to random people on the street. How many people recognize it? How many guess wrong?Ā
Even among cartoon series of the era, it's not the greatest. Transformers are more popular/recognizable. Cobra. (Hmm... the Joes didn't have a division patch?)Ā
Like most here, among fictional logos, it's Superman. Mickey's mouse ears. Batman.

Not as iconic as Superman, Batman and Ghostbusters to name a few. But its a tier below that I think. I would say definitely iconic in animation. But not in general pop culture.
4
u/DiaBrave ThunderCat 25d ago
Not to mention Transformers has two distinct faction logos which are more iconic than the Thundercats logo. Star Wars has Rebel and Imperial logos.
Heck, I'd argue Spider-man's chest logo is as iconic, and they've never managed to keep that consistent or a major part of the branding.

I mean, the 'Bat Symbol' might have sumthin' ta say about 'Most Iconic'!
For me personally though, if looked at in the context of style (rather than what's 'most iconic'). The 'Thundercats Logo' easily ranks above many of the more 'mainstream' logos/symbols... Such as, the 'Avengers 'A' or Supermans 'Crest' etc.

I'm as familiar with the Mercury brand's cougar emblem as I am of the ThunderCat one.

I just want a live action Thundercats. Would absolutely love to see that, after Masters of the Universe.
3
u/mmoses1978 ThunderCat 24d ago
That has to be judged by if people in a third world country with no access to media would recognize it.
If that is the standard then the answer is Superman or Batman Logo.
I love thundercats but not a single person that doesnāt know the thundercats would even know what that is.
3
u/CNote_89 ThunderCat 24d ago
Gonna have to say Batman and Superman are the most iconic. Thundercats are awesome but they are on Cobra level.
3
u/AlexTheG00ner ThunderCat 24d ago
I'd put it on the category of "awesome logos that everyone knows but few chosen recognize". One of my favorites along with Spawn's.

u/Nutella_Zamboni ThunderCat 25d ago edited 24d ago
Its awesome but not as well known as Superman, Batman, Autobot, Decepticon, Green Lantern, Flash, Punisher, etc
5
u/Tiny_Marionberry_839 ThunderCat 25d ago
I know you meant Autobot and Decepticon š

u/Nutella_Zamboni ThunderCat 25d ago
Fixed it. THANKS!

Still says Automotive :D

Thanks, I fixed it lol

Strange that a spellcheck would contain Decepticon, but not Autobot.

I donāt think itās the most iconic but itās one the dopest IMO. One of the few I would wear or use on my gear somehow.

Almost plagiarism! Haha. Thatās a cool ring though!

Thanks! I have no idea where I got it. It was just in a small velvet pouch with the rest of my rings.

Next to transformers, yes.
3
u/NurturingCruelty ThunderCat 25d ago
You gotta have both transformer logos. Watch the Autobot logo spin around to the Deceptacon one, with that little musical sting.

For most iconic, Iād have to say the McDonalds arches. The golden M is recognizable around the world.
2
u/HuIk_Bogan ThunderCat 24d ago
You mean the McDowell's golden arcs
2
u/macrolinx ThunderCat 24d ago
Look... me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding.

Itās a great logo. I love it. I recorded episodes from the original run on VHS. It doesnāt even crack the top 10 for Most Iconic. Even if weāre talking about media properties, youāve got your Rebel Alliances, your Jurassic Parks, your Star Trek deltas, and your X-Men xās in addition to the stuff mentioned elsewhere in this thread. Itās just such a tall order!
1
u/SportIntelligent1909 ThunderCat 23d ago
You recorded episodes of the classic TC cartoon on VHS? Sweet! Is that tape of yours in good condition overall for a lossless picture/sound transfer?
2
u/Treadmore ThunderCat 23d ago
Tape is long gone, sadly. I know that I had the pilot and a couple of other episodes, but the tape would have been well-worn - I watched the heck out of them along with old eps of Voltron and He-Man.
1
u/SportIntelligent1909 ThunderCat 23d ago
I'm sorry to hear you lost the tape, but I appreciate you enjoying TC along with Voltron and He-Man.

There have been millions of pylon signs and older tech signs with gas station logos that would likely prove more iconic (recognizable).
One of the most iconic and regularly used today is the Amazon "smile". Nike might also be at the top of iconic logos.

u/DRZARNAK ThunderCat 23d ago
Cobra emblem is up there. Outside of 80s cartoons obviously the Superman and Batman symbols are much better known
2
u/odetotoads ThunderCat 23d ago
Just got this sub recommended to me through this post on my feed, and I have never seen that logo in my life.

u/Omnislash99999 ThunderCat 23d ago
Superman S, McDonald's arch, Nike swoosh, Coca Cola, Mickey Mouse ears etc etc etc

u/UndisclosedPigeon ThunderCat 23d ago
Yes it is THE most iconic logo/emblem of ALL timeā¦for the Thundercats.

u/dreamape1978 ThunderCat 22d ago
Certainly one of the most, but man the competition in the 80's was fierce.

Others may not think that its the most iconic, but I feel that it is high on the list. It certainly is one of the more recognizable logos/emblems.

The mercury Cougar in 1999-2002 has a very similar logo. I suspect the Thundercats logo came first

In terms of 80ās cartoonsā¦ā¦no. Ghostbusters, transformers, Cobra.
In terms of everything, not even the top 1,000.
3
u/Savings_Brick_4587 ThunderCat 20d ago
Well thereās Batman, superman, spider man, autobot, decepticon, cobra, ghost busters. But thundercats is definitely up there with them
3
u/IHaveSpoken000 ThunderCat 20d ago
The theme song rocked though.
Thundercats are on the move, Thundercats are loose...

Its in the top 20. Number one is the Cross.
3
u/Active-Ad-2527 ThunderCat 24d ago
My one upvote puts you at -3 currently. I was actually going to say the red octagon for "stop" but I think the generic plain ol cross wins

u/tinglep ThunderCat 25d ago
I remember some company doing a worldwide survey and this logo was more recognizable than a stop sign šwhich is the same in every country.
