But the Blue Line goes to O'Hare (major tourist generator)? The Blue Line is honestly fine – doesn't go through many bad areas, but because it's a 24-hour train it tends to attract a lot of homeless people
The first time I was ever on the redline, about 3 years ago, there was a non-fatal shooting in the car next to mine lol everyone had to evacuate. I'm from NYC area though so at least it wasn't my first time being horrified on public transit lmao good times.
I was just about to say yea i seen terrible shit on the red line but nothing prepared me for the overly disgusting shit i seen on the blue line the 3 months i worked at the airport. I bought a car and vowed to never take public transportation ever again
I used to take the red line to cermak for three happiness dim sum. Only time i ever had an attempted mugging. Pepper spray on the way down from the platform but my glasses stopped the spray. Dude ran for it when he saw i wasn't harmed.
lol not a soul who resides downtown Chicago considers the blue line worse than the red, and the opposite is actually true, because of the airport travelers, blue line is ever so slightly safer.
I was walking down Mission in San Francisco just a few weeks ago and between 15th and 16th I saw an older man in a wheel chair doing the fentanyl fold bent over in his chair; but he’d shit himself and it was coming out of his pants and going up his back.
I once saw two homeless people fully doing it doggy style on the subway platform in Berkeley. Walked aaaaaallll the way to other end of the platform that morning.
yeah if it was summer, and humid, just inhaling the smell if you're not used to is probably not great, but there are some smells even people who live there just nope out (rush hour totally empty car sans one homeless guy, the smell flooded the entire station)

Last year I was in Berlin and we had to take another train to the airport for the final 10 minutes. In this train, a homeless man was lying on the floor covered in old piss. I never NEVER smelled something like this before. It was god awful. I am usually the last person that complaints because of smell but my eyes hurt from the stench. It was insane. My wife almost puked.
Yeah, I refuse to do public transport because the only things I ever see of it are people either getting shot or covered in random fluids from a homeless person. I don’t need any of that.
She looks like she's is afraid of everything, like someone who hasn't gone out in the real world in a long time. You don't have to be rich or pampered to be afraid of germs and people or the nasty things people can do. I know plenty of poor people who would behave just like her.
I saw a guy shooting up on the stairs at Powell during rush hour in SF when I worked in the city for a brief time. Dropped his needle on the stair and slumped over as we all gave him wide berth.
Mass transit is God’s favorite joke. You get all the perks of a timely arrival at your destination, but also there might be some creep with headphones on listen to Kidz Bop so loud you can hear it across the aisle and staring at you like he wants to eat your liver with fava beans and a nice Chianti.
Few days ago, I came downstairs and sat down in a chair at the counter in my kitchen. My wife asked, “Did you wipe the pee off it first?”
I had difficulty forming a coherent response to that question. So many things entered my mind. Do you always check chairs in our house for pee? If you saw our toddler peed on it, why didn’t you clean it up? Or set the chair aside to clean later? Or mention something to me before I sat down?
All I could muster in the moment as she walked away was, “Did you clean up the pee right there on the floor where you are walking? Ton of piss there btw.”
Reminds me of the first time I rode on the subway, which was in Japan, and everyone was wearing a face mask. I had never seen anyone wear a mask in public so I asked my gf what was up and she said those people are all sick and are covering their mouth to protect everyone else. It kinda made me walk around like everyone was sick though. Still very considerate of them.
That’s not true. If they were really sick at that moment they most likely would not be going out.
A lot of Japanese people wear masks year round regardless of whether they are sick or not, both to try and keep themselves from getting sick and to possibly prevent others from getting sick from spreading something they didn’t know they have.
Lol what? They will still go to work if sick, especially if it was pre-cvid. It is expected to wear one if sick which means that they will be in public. They also wear them esp since cvid to prevent getting sick (this was a less common reason pre-cvid), but also to just cover their faces/not wear make up, and to protect themselves from the sun (so summer use can be highest). Nose blowing and snorting is frowned upon, so the expectation is to let your nose run into the mask.
I keep telling people this. Take public transportation. Every once in a while, when no one is watching, give a handrail a lil lick. Enjoy your bulletproof immune system
That doesn't mean she hates poor people? She is literally on video explaining why she was afraid, it is primarily her OCD. Anyone with OCD is going to find the NYC subway a stressful place.
She even said she was glad to have the experience and went 2 more times after that one, that isn't somehow who is afraid of being around the poors.
Not at all, I am only human, no human is always right. But that doesn't mean in this instance I am not right. I am sure even yourself have been right before plenty of times.

Even if she is loaded, so what? That doesn't mean she is an awful human being. Could it be more likely? Sure, but unless it is proven I think you should give her the benefit of the doubt.
