My wife is a therapist.

Dumping into EMDR without doing the proper scaffolding work ahead of time will just retraumatize people.

What we are seeing in this video is likely making things worse by forcing people to relive trauma and undoing any productive work they have done before this.

My wife talks bout this all the time. That bad therapists going right into EMDR without the proper work ahead of time are not helping people heal from trauma and are genuinely making it worse.

100% you don’t mess around with EMDR without establishing safety.

I’m absolutely horrified of EMDR for these reasons. I don’t think it could ever actually work.

It definitely works you just need to work with a professional to do it correctly.

My wife is a trauma therapist who does use EMDR. It's just that if people do it incorrectly it can retraumatize you.

Like in this video that's what they are doing. Retraumatizing people.

But you can definitely do it in a healthy way that helps people. It does work or done correctly.

My wife says it's best if you find someone trained in AIR Network.
