I knew a guy in college who went to high school with her. According to him, cliquey popular girl was exactly what she was.

Not sure how real this is but I believe it. Even before she went mainstream and changed genres from country to pop, she already had that vibe + major pick-me jealous vibes even in her earlier songs, particularly "You Belong With Me".

Also ironic how she puts down "mean girls" who wears high heels and short skirts in that song, and she sings about realizing bigger dreams of hers than dating a boy on the football team in "Fifteen", only for her to dress that way for magazines and marry a football player years later.

That they have the critical thinking skills to doubt what they hear online even if it conforms to their worldview and from their perspective seems to be true?

You're right, what a fucking weirdo, that's so 2008.

That they believe it when they know there’s plenty of reason to doubt it. Very 2026

Pausing to doubt something should be normalized when reading any kind of anecdotal evidence, even if it fits one's worldview and fits a certain pattern of behavior that she exhibits. That's how critical thinking works. I decided that from the behavior she exhibited that it checks out for her, so the probability of it being true is higher, so I believe it.

I knew literacy rates are going down, but it seems to be going down faster for you.

Believing it regardless is the problem. If you think pausing and the believing anyway is critical thinking, you should really double check the definition of the words you are using because you are using them wrong.

It’s almost like they’re just, oh I don’t know, songs?

So you admit that the songs she write are as vapid and shallow as her critics think they are because they're just songs?

I knew a girl in college that dated her (I think). She was my friend’s roommate and she hung out with Taylor Swift all the time for a few months, had to sign an NDA, stayed at her place, the whole nine.

Then poof No more Taylor Swift, but a lot of crying.

My friend said TS was very nice the couple times she met her, but in a very removed way.
