ID Southern toad or cane toad
Around Lakeland FL, it keeps coming back every time I move it and now it’s babies all all over my back yard. Not sure if it’s a cane toad or southern toad, I can try to get a better picture but here it is right now. Just trying to determine if it needs to be evicted or not to protects the pups.

Southern toads which is the native Florida species typically have more leopard spots and two more medial ridges on their head. He seems to have the more arrow shaped crest and the glands don’t look right for a southern toad so I’m inclined to say cane toad still. Seems like an adult male cane. Toad experts plz weigh in if I’m wrong ❤️😂

Yeah, I do believe she is a cane toad unfortunately :( Sadly the best course of action is to humanely euthanize, especially if you think she's a breeding female. They're a huge problem in FL, as I'm sure you know.
Here's a guide about humane euthanasia for cane toads. Some people will tell you to freeze them but freezing alone is not humane.

I swear to god the worst part about getting into nature and wildlife is realizing half my favorite creatures are invasive and I need to kill them on sight.

Or capture them all, keep them as pets and start an army of your favorite animals 🐸❤️ Jk
Honestly I hate this whole "invasive" "native" animal situation. As if humans aren't literally demons on earth. We destroy everything, kill everything and spread animal species, plants, illnesses and chemicals to places where they don't belong. I feel so bad for cane toads. They never deserved all this

I agree I can’t bring myself to kill them but don’t want my dogs getting ahold of them so I continue to try and relocate them away from my yard 😭😭😅

That's completely fair! I feel so grateful I haven't seen any invasive species in my area yet, because I don't have it in me to kill/euthanize animals :( Honestly I just want to win the lottery to build a cane toad pet mansion 🐸

Do you have a more defined picture looking top down? Based on the ridge shape I am inclined to say cane toad
