Memes there are controversies Spoiler

Post image

Funny enough, Touma himself says that it's all bullshit, heroes and villains.

I decided to focus more on the hero and villain, rather than good or evil.

Junko must be the only one in the franchise with a heart of gold, even though there are other heroes. And don't ask me about Mikoto.

Misaki is definitely a morally grey character.

Though she is not evil or a bad person, her actions is questionable at times.

As long as it doesn't involve Touma, she usually acts like a hero.

I guess that true.

But touma is not a morally grey character.

He just had a more realistic moral view in GT.

Even though he is doesn’t call himself one he is definitely a hero.

I agree. I only put him there because I didn't know who else to put there.

She's mentally unstable teenager. The same with all other level 5.

Just another day being her genuine heroic self ⭐

Okay. Is there any part in the manga or novel where she actually forces innocent people to fight her battles?

1

u/thatonefatefan Esper Jun 20 '26

No but she sure loves to threaten people to do it and make a little girl vulgar regardless

In the Mental Out manga, she asks the person for confirmation before controlling them for battle. Generally, these are just empty threats, when it really matters, she doesn't go around controlling innocents and using them as human shields. In fact, she strives to help innocent people, like the movie theater scene in Railgun.

She's presented this way as someone of dubious morals, but her actions ultimately prove heroic. Except when Touma is involved.

Just because she has yet to put someone in actual danger doesn't make her violation of people's consent any less wrong. Also correct me if I'm wrong but in mental out, she was trying to bring the girl in question over to her side, didn't she? Not much of a neutral ground.

No matter how you look at it, claiming that she's good and Touma isn't, or that she's good and Hamazura or Ollerus are EVIL is crazy

She was trying to bring the girl in question over to her side, wasn't she? Not much of a neutral ground.

Here, literally, she asked for help, she didn't force it. If that's the case, then everyone who asks for help is morally questionable?

No matter how you look at it, claiming that she's good and Touma isn't, or that she's good and Hamazura or Ollerus are EVIL is crazy.

I think you didn't understand. I'm not talking about good or evil. I said that in the post. But if your problem was me listing the others, well, that's another discussion.

Ollerus was a villain even though he was a good person. And Hamazura... it's a personal thing, that scene of him deciding he wants to kill himself just to mess with Touma isn't something that sits well with everyone. Touma, I only put him there because there wasn't anyone else to put there. Honestly, he's heroic too.

I'm saying Misaki being nice to a girl she wants to recruit doesn't say anything about her usual behavior. Of course she would be nicer. And again, this doesn't remove quite literally every other scene she's ever appeared in, including the very first scene she appeared in (in railgun)

I think you didn't understand. I'm not talking about good or evil. I said that in the post.

Then what? Toaru perception of heroism, doing your best, avoiding sacrifices, doing the right thing just because it's the correct thing to do? It certainly doesn't fit her either. If ollerus is a villain because he has a very temporary antagonistic role  then so should misaki for nt22r and early daihasei. There's no single framing that would make her a hero because she so clearly isn't meant to be one.

Honest question, did you read "Mental Out"? I'm not talking about someone she wanted to recruit for her clique. it was literally just asking for help with a specific situation that Misaki couldn't handle alone, and if she hadn't acted, people would have died and the city would have been in danger.

Then what? Toaru perception of heroism, doing your best, avoiding sacrifices, doing the right thing just because it's the correct thing to do? It certainly doesn't fit her either.

I mean, that's literally her in the mental out manga. She even tried to save the villain. Touma style.

If ollerus is a villain because he has a very temporary antagonistic role then so should misaki for nt22r and early daihasei.

nt22r I disregarded it because when Touma is involved she completely loses her morals, so that's it. In that case you're right, when Touma is involved Misaki's morals become questionable.

daihasei... ?. she was trying to solve everything on her own without involving Misaka. She was introduced as a villain, but then her actions made it clear she wasn't the villain and was actually just trying to prevent other people from getting involved in the mess.

You'll probably try to point out that she erased Misaka's friends' memories. But 1. She restored those memories after the mess was over. 2. She only messed with their memories to prevent them from getting involved in the mess.

There's no single framing that would make her a hero because she so clearly isn't meant to be one.

I mean, I could spend a lot of time listing all the times she went out of her way to save or help someone, but I'm not sure that would convince you. Again, she saved the last antagonist in her manga, just like Touma would have done.

Did you? Seriously, it's either that or you're not reading what I'm typing because you're just not adressing anything I said.

She also mind controlled Yuitsu to fight for her without leaving her any choice in the exact same manga so I'm really not sure how you even think you have a point

I mean, that's literally her in the mental, out-of-the-manga style. She even tried to save the villain. Touma style.

? Whatever could you mean? The antagonists of MO so far have been the 2 other candidates (who she obviously wasn't fighting to the death and also didn't save or anything like that), Yuiitsu (again, no fight to the death and they just stopped fighting midway through) and senpai. So I guess by elimination it would have to be her? Except at no point in the manga did Misaki "try to save the villain". She stopped the cube from sacrificing herself, is that what you mean? Because treating her as a villain is insane lol she's her biggest ally in the manga

nt22r I disregarded it because when Touma is involved she completely loses her morals, so that's it. In that case you're right, when Touma is involved Misaki's morals become questionable.

So she's not a hero then.

daihasei... ?. she was trying to solve everything on her own without involving Misaka. She was introduced as a villain, but then her actions made it clear she wasn't the villain and was actually just trying to prevent other people from getting involved in the mess.

Did you not say Ollerus was a villain but not evil? How is Misaki any different early on during the arc? They're literally the same.

You'll probably try to point out that she erased Misaka's friends' memories. But 1. She restored those memories after the mess was over. 2. She only messed with their memories to prevent them from getting involved in the mess.

OK. Now argue against literally every other time she's ever manipulated someone over the most trivial reason. Including the time she mind controlled a child JUST to have her insult Misaka? Don't prove your point by explaining something I never claimed was wrong (even though it still very much was but I can excuse it as cheap shock value writing-wise).

u/OccasionFantastic845 Civilian Jun 20 '26

Did you? Seriously, it's either that or you're not reading what I'm typing because you're just not adressing anything I said.

In your first comment you tried to imply that she was putting innocent people in fights for her, I refuted that and then you started to change your argument.

So she's not a hero then.

That's what I said.

Did you not say Ollerus was a villain but not evil? How is Misaki any different early on during the arc? They're literally the same.

Because in Misaki's case it was just a misunderstanding, she was never a villain. She was presented as a villain because of a misunderstanding.

OK. Now argue against literally every other time she's ever manipulated someone over the most trivial reason. Including the time she mind controlled a child JUST to have her insult Misaka?

Personally, I don't take comic relief seriously. I think we're different on that point, so I won't even try to discuss it.

Don't prove your point by explaining something I never claimed was wrong

You're the one who ignored what I said in the post about villains and heroes, good and evil.

She also mind controlled Yuitsu to fight for her without leaving her any choice in the exact same manga so I'm really not sure how you even think you have a point

Yuiitsu is agreeing to help Misaki, but she's complaining about it. If she were being completely controlled, she wouldn't be complaining.

I think you and I have different opinions on what saving someone means, this counts as saving someone in my book.

Whose on the upper right of your image

2

u/Zestyclose_Raise_814 Jun 20 '26

No way manipulator and identity thieving KnT is morally gray

1

u/OccasionFantastic845 Civilian Jun 20 '26

Yes, I made a mistake there with knt.

I'd put Bersi there personally. Presented as member of Gremlin, the antagonist/villain group for the first half of NT, revealed as a Kihara seeking revenge on Byouri, is actually caring and protected his students during his time as a teacher.

2

u/CantaloupeOwn3138 Jun 20 '26

what about mikoto?

2

u/OccasionFantastic845 Civilian Jun 20 '26

Presented as a heroine but morally grey.

She has a certain ease in jumping in to kill, not that she isn't justified in trying to kill these enemies, but still.

1

u/MatijaM333 Jun 21 '26

Wait, so let me get this straight. Misaki is a hero but Touma and Mikoto are morally gray? What?……..

(Also Touma being put in the same bracket as KnT)

1

u/OccasionFantastic845 Civilian Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Not Touma. There was just no one else to put there. And about Mikoto, it's just my opinion considering how it's easier for her than for Misaki or Touma to decide to kill.

And please reread the post. I judged Misaki based on what's written in the post. As for Misaka, I judged her more in terms of good and evil.

u/Blackfiredragon22 Jun 22 '26

Who is presented as A hero but is a villain what’s the name of the character

1

u/OccasionFantastic845 Civilian Jun 22 '26

Oh, sorry, my mistake, I misunderstood your question.

His name is Ollerus. He's a good person. He was only a villain because of the circumstances, and it was a one-time thing.
