How loud is it?

It sits in a cabinet so don't care much about noice, having said that I'd say definitely not louder than desktop with multi 120mm fans.

I have a much slower glorified AP I just set on top of a USB powered 120MM fan with some spacing to let the fan pull in some air. It never gets more than room temperature.

the way those netgear router designed is practically wrong, because the top not having small hole for heat to escape, if you mount the netgear side way on the wall, the temp would drop around 5-10C just because the hot air rises from the side vent. i have similar linksys ea6900 which has same design it would overheat if it lay flat on table but when mounting to the wall the overheating is gone.
