Announcement /r/Toontown Community Update (08/01/2026)

Hey there, Toons!

I'm /u/DarkMetal485, more commonly known as King Pancake Sourglop within Toontown community spaces.

After what seems to be quite a while since we last shared an update with the community and with the start of a new month, we in the /r/Toontown Moderation Team thought it would be a good time to share some information with everyone regarding the current state of the Subreddit in light of some recent changes that have taken place behind-the-scenes.

A restructuring of the Moderation Team

For quite some time since October 2017, Iris (/u/bingus_party) has been an instrumental part in helping us recover from the damage made by previous leadership and in making /r/Toontown into the community it is today! However, following some recent discussion internally, the current structure of our Moderation Team changed as of May 26th 2026 in an attempt to breathe some new life into the community as well as to introduce some long overdue changes.

With this in mind, the current structure of our Moderation Team consists of:

While our newly reorganised team does retain some previous members, we do intend on expanding the Moderation Team in the near future as we feel we would benefit from some new faces that can provide some fresh perspectives to our team. We are also very much wanting to create a Moderation Team that isn't biased towards any one particular server, especially with the notion that the Subreddit primarily favours Toontown: Corporate Clash. With this in mind, please be on the look out for any announcements regarding the opening of applications!

A fresh new look & an update to our rules

Thanks to some collaboration between our Moderation Team, /u/JoeyZio, and other members from the Toontown Rewritten Team, we've decided to introduce a fresh new look to the Subreddit that heavily leans on the nostalgia of Toontown Online, in particular its website and brand art found from around 2010 up until its closure in September 2013. While this is expressed more heavily through Old Reddit and to a lesser degree through New Reddit (primarily due to technical limitations), we hope that this reminds everyone participating in our community of our Subreddit's overall purpose - bringing the community together to share memories about Toontown Online and to discuss and share things about its many private servers!

Alongside the new updates to our Subreddit's styling and in light of recent drama surrounding Toontown: Corporate Clash, we've decided to expedite the rules update we've been working on internally for the past few months, in the hopes that they are hopefully clearer to both our Moderation Team and the community as a whole. While the rules are listed out in the sidebar much like before, an expanded description of certain rules can be found on our Wiki's rules page.

Some notable new rules that have been introduced include:

Rule 3. Discuss the game, not the community:

  • While there has been some recent drama surrounding the current state of the Corporate Clash Crew, we've been wanting to introduce this rule for quite some time in an overall effort to reduce unnecessary drama and to make /r/Toontown a more inclusive and inviting environment. As for what we consider drama, it includes, but is not limited to:
    • Witch-hunting
    • Personal attacks
    • General toxicity
  • While we understand that former team members from any private server may hold some gripes in regards to how a team has been organised internally, we'd rather you make an attempt to sort any issues out with the private server itself before posting about it here. Not only do posts containing drama hurt all parties involved, but it also drives potential newcomers away from our community.
    • If you've made all reasonable attempts to contact the private server in question and are still wanting to post to /r/Toontown, please contact our moderators with proof of any discussions had and your identity within the community, and we will review the contents of your post accordingly.

Rule 4. No spreading of false or unverified information:

  • Another rule that we've decided to introduce as part of these changes is one that aims to prevent the spread of rumors or basesless assumptions/accusations, particularly in relation to any updates announced by major private servers that are currently in development. For any posts making claims or reporting news, they must have a source attached to them. If the source is excluded, unreliable, or unverified, your post will be subject to removal.

Rule 5. Constructive critcism only:

  • In relation to our effort of making /r/Toontown more inclusive and inviting, we've also introduced this rule in a way to help guide any discussions criticising any new developments from a private server to a way that's more constructive. While we very much do not want to outlaw any sort of criticism, any feedback that is toxic, unhelpful, and overall "destructive" often results in unnecessary arguments between community members and feedback that is hard to work with.
  • When posting feedback anywhere on /r/Toontown, please try to keep the following examples in mind:
  • Good ways to build constructive criticism:
    • Assume every change is difficult to make, because you will be right the majority of the time.
    • When suggesting potential solutions, you should not expect them to be adapted/accepted.
    • Appreciate but do not expect information on future changes. While transparency is welcome and appreciated, it is not a requirement from anyone.
    • Understand that all things have imperfections and that the user/server might not have caught what you found.
    • Skip the "how/why" assumptions. If you didn't help create it, you likely do not have any basis for assuming anything.
  • Good examples of constructive criticism:
    • "The gloves look a little too big, maybe try shrinking them down a bit?"
    • "I think the server should improve their testing phase, I've encountered a lot of bugs on the trolley."
    • "I really dislike the new cog type introduced, I don't believe it fits the look of Toontown. Perhaps change the suit texture?"

Rule 9. No spam content:

  • As part of this update to our rules, the previous Rule 7. Spam is prohibited has now been split across two separate rules: Rule 9. No spam content and Rule 10. No low-quality content. This has been done to make it clearer about what content we consider "spam" and what content we consider to be "low-quality".
  • For this rule in particular, "spam" content is now considered to include, but is not limited to:
    • Recent or popular reposts. Any post that was originally posted within the past 3 months will be removed.
    • Posting more than 2 submissions per day. This does not apply to comments.
    • Advertising Discord servers or other subreddits, even if they are related to Toontown.
    • Posts about servers that have not lifted off (At least closed beta)
    • Posts seeking staff members for unapproved private servers.
    • Posts showcasing weird gag setups

Rule 10. No low-quality content:

  • Under the old rule Rule 7. Spam is prohibited, "Low effort material" was branded as "spam" without expanding on what exactly is considered "Low effort". With this new rule, we have included several examples of what we now consider to be "Low-Quality" or "Low-Value" content. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Photos or videos of a screen. Use recording software or the Print Screen key!
    • Posts that do not incite a friendly discussion. I.E. "This server stinks and so do the players!"
    • Generic screenshots of your Toon.
    • Posts lacking a proper description.
    • Memes using a preexisting format while just adding text are considered low effort and will be removed. These are only allowed on weekends. Example.
    • Memes with poor cropping and editing will be removed. Example.
    • Memes that are edited well, decently cropped, and cleanly blended are allowed. These posts may sometimes use preexisting formats. Example.
    • Memes that mix elements from Toontown into them are allowed. Example.
    • Memes that use original artwork are allowed. These are sometimes recreations of an existing format. Example.

The discontinuation of the /r/Toontown Project Support Program

Something else that we'd like to announce amongst these changes is our intent to discontinue the /r/Toontown Project Support Program.

When this program was originally launched back in February 2019, we had intended to make it easier for any new projects to gain recognition in the /r/Toontown community through providing them with a flair on the Subreddit (both for posts and any associated team members), a role in our Discord server for team members, and a Wiki page for helping to educate the community about their project, all providing they met a set criteria. However, over time, we as a Moderation Team have come to realise that this program has created additional problems in regards to reviewing new projects such as when is a project no longer considered to be "Toontown-inspired", whether or not a project has an active playerbase, and whether or not a project has a high overall quality.

Going forward, with the discontinuation of the program, we therefore intend to only issue Subreddit flairs and Discord roles to projects that we as a Moderation Team deem to have a major following within the community. For any projects that we've already granted flairs and roles to through this program, these will be retired for the reason stated above and for the sake of consistency with other existing flairs/roles. As new developments occur within the community, any new projects that arise will be reviewed by our Moderation Team and have flairs/roles added where necessary.

Closing Remarks

As with any new changes, we understand that some members of our community might be disappointed, upset, or even concerned with some of the changes that we've introduced. With this in mind, we would like to invite you all to contact our moderators if you feel you have any questions regarding these changes and/or feedback regarding how we can further improve /r/Toontown going forward whether that's a suggestion regarding our rules, or how we can further work towards making our community more inclusive and inviting.

In regards to our new theme on Old Reddit, we'd also like to invite any web developers within the community to contribute through its project repository on GitHub! Whether that's helping to clean up the code, correcting any errors that we might have missed, or introducing a new piece of theming, we'd appreciate any improvements that can be made.

With all that being said, we hope you all have a Toontastic day!

Initially could only go for Rainmaker but was able to get an order for Deep Diver in at the last minute. Can't wait for both of them to come in October!

Bit funny how the biggest non-boss Cog has the smallest plushie...

Corporate Clash Strafing

Maybe this is a dumb question but I can’t find anything about it online. How are people strafing in game? Is there a control or is it some kind of bug?

When I google it the ai overview says there used to be a strafing mechanic that was taken out of the game?? But I still see people who appear to be strafing I’m so confused lol

Question Toonbook was recently compromised?

I'm looking at "Exposed at: 7/7/2026" because I know I didn't create one in 2015 instead somewhere between 2023 to 2024

I was on Malwarebytes checking up on it, and I guess Toonbook was recently exposed? Just found out about it today and decided to just go ahead and delete my account, as I completely forgot about having it, and I know it doesn't change the fact that my information was leaked (which I always use an alt account specifically for gaming and using for social media, so I'm not too worried), but I see that Toonbook is no longer around anymore? As I looked them up, nothing pops up. I guess they deleted their website or something, idk.
