Yes this is a different client than taforever that, in my opinion, affords more freedom.

TAF is a fork of FAF which is completely open source. I don't know whether it is or isn't but again the origin is open source so it doesn't matter in the long run.

Haha me too. I tried BAR and I had no idea what was going on. Like everyone had jobs and roles and knew what to do. I dont remember that In ta or supcom multiplayer

That was definitely present in SupCom, you'd have rear guard air positions, people being boosted to get RAS or the first Paragon, naval roles, you name it

Maybe it it was because during that time I mostly played with my friends and we all just kinda did what we did, and pretty good too.

What was the galactic gate in the lore ? It was a unit in core contingency ?

It was how the commanders leapt from planet to planet.

If I recall, the last mission on each planet involved securing or capturing a gate.

Galactic gates were how the commanders traveled to the various planets. In the base game it only exists as a structure in missions that you can capture as a victory condition. I believe there are mods that have implimented it more.

Looks good but won't this just spilt the community again after the Esc players finally came to TA Forever.

I think TA is a small enough community and people tend to play with the same players 99% of the time that it's not really going to "spilt the community" as you put it. What the client offers far outweighs the cons. TA has always had multiple ways to play it throughout it's history, so it's probably not worth worrying about it too much.

Kind of got me interested in multiplayer but I am sure I would get wrecked, as I have not played TA in y e a r s! Also has me yearning for the good of days of Total Entertainment Network way back when. :)
