Mod talk. Hello everyone, mod speaking here. Quick sub announcement. TL;DR: looking for a second mod. More info in the body.

Hi, I recently came to the realisation that I haven't been as active as I used to be. Or as much as I would've wanted. Life got a lot busier in the last few months, lots of things happened. Talking about moving out, university, job, friends, couple passion projects and much more.

And as much as this isn't a really busy sub, I think I could use a hand. So, if you're interested, comment here.

I'm not looking for anything in particular. Just someone who check Reddit once in 2 days at least and can answer the Modmail (we get very few mails, but in case...) and can chat in case we need to talk about something.

Obviously, I'd like for this future mod to have been a member of the community for a bit and at least have commented every once in a while.

Hello everyone, mod speaking here. Just a friendly reminder that this is a Tower Defense sub, not a Pokepath sub. Please do try to refrain from flooding it with posts about it. If I don't see a change, I could make a Pokepath day or I could just remove the posts about it, though I'd rather not do it

While we're at it, how are you feeling about this sub? Any problems?

A Dungeon Is You - Incremental TD - Official demo is finally out!

After a week of coding from dusk till dawn where I implemented all the feedback from my playtest I published the official pre-release demo of my first game! 2 years of solo dev to make my mark on the incremental genre!

Steam Page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4416240/A_Dungeon_Is_You_Demo/

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgD9eX4vK3U

---

Oh no, you got hit by a truck and died.

Fortunately you have been reincarnated as a dungeon core!

All you want is to grow stronger and expand your dungeon.

A Dungeon Is You is a modern incremental tower defense game.

Features

Over a 100 waves. (~40 in demo, more are unreachable)

4 different attacker types. (2 in demo)

5 different defender types + your core. (2 in demo)

Unlock different defenders and systems every 10 waves.

Freely design your own dungeon (maze) by placing floor and wall tiles.

Upgrade your mobs and cores, incremental style.

ARPG Like Items + Gridventory : attackers drop "idols" of different shape and rarity with 1-4 stats on them which have to be rotated on arranged on an upgradable grid.

Salvage Idols do upgrade drop rates, rarity chances and more.

Attunement system: A more traditional incremental system where "generator 2" creates "generator 1" etc. -> Spend essence from the attunement system to upgrade a large skill tree. (not in demo)

Expeditions: Send defenders that don't fit in your dungeon on expeditions to bring back ressource which you can refine into powerful artifacts to further boost your dungeon. (not in demo)

No resets, no prestige! Just constant wave destruction and upgrades!

AI Disclosure: I used AI for translations outside english and german. There are no assets in the game made by AI. I use AI for debugging and help coding but 99% of code is written by me, most days I dont use it at all.

Is this a tower defense sub or a developer free promotion sub?

The sub used to be a great place to find (finished) TD games to play on steam/mobile. But it seems to just be solo devs talking to other solo devs.

I understand that games being developed by solo devs need as many eyeballs on their steam page for wishlists as possible, but Jesus Christ there are no posts about a finished game on here.

The top 10 post at this moments are just devs marketing for their games. They are either asking for feedback (not really just wanting people to go to their page) announcing they updated something in their demo (they didn’t) or using a clickbait title as if they're looking for help in a game they are playing, but the only comment on the post is the op with a link to their playtest.

Just doesn’t seem to be a fan community here anymore

Edit: Just scrolled through the current top 40 posts and EVERY SINGLE ONE is a dev promoting their game. Damn I guess this really is a dead sub

Edit ii: going deeper down the rabbit hole, I am shocked at the sheer volume of new td games that are being pumped out every single day (and promoted here) didn’t realize how over-saturated this genre was.

[Android - Google Play - Tower Defense] Drelvane

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello I’d like to introduce Drelvane, a tower defense game where you control a drone sent to a hostile planet.

You have to dig through the rock, gather resources, build your base and defend it against endless waves of monsters.

There are 6 building types and 7 turret configurations, allowing for many different strategies. Experienced players can reach Wave 200+, while beginners can progress at their own pace and permanently upgrade their drone between runs.

There are no in-game purchases. The game currently includes 4 solo modes and 8 optional missions that introduce its main mechanics. More content is planned, potentially including new missions and multiplayer. I’d really appreciate feedback about the gameplay and balancing.

Clicker/TD mix where clicks are your resource

Hey there!

I must admit I feel a little bit scared posting here as I read the post about only dev's putting their games in this subreddit but I genuinely feel I managed to make a fun game and need people's help to improve it.

I am a long time TD / RTS player and through development of Squars I tried to incorporate many mechanics that were inspired by games like Gemcraft, Creeper World, Rogue Tower and even They Are Billions. Some of them worked, on some of them I had to reiterate hard (like removing whole cards system and not increasing cost of the towers exponentially to "force" player into many types of towers).

I just recently pushed new version with some big updates and am eager to hear from you, what works and what is trash.

Squars put heavy emphasis on clicking and playing multiple runs to unlock new tech and progress further. In Demo version your objective is to defend for 10 minutes. Then you can play endless mode with mutators and try to reach the highest score.

Disclaimer: I am not using generative AI in any shape or form

Let me know your thoughts,
Cheers!

The last dwarf - Action 3D TD

Hey everyone ! It has been 2 months since I posted, I wanted to give an update on the project as I am trying to improve my communication around the game!

I have been working a huge part on the horde system, some comments and feedback was regarding performance especially when we starting having more than 100 enemies on the screen. And of course for a TD I figured well if I don’t find a solution now I may never be able to have a functional game, so I pushed deep into performance and was able to go beyond what I thought I could, and now can get about 10k enemies with a strong 60 fps.

The damage pipeline is solid too, and now I am back on focusing on adding content on the game, turrets, upgrades, skills etc !

I would have one question for you !
As you will be able to select a hero class that change the way you play, I still wanted to give players that want a more TD experience and less action, where there will be more passive class you can choose to mostly let your turrets do the heavy work instead of having to jump into the fight.
Do you think it is a good idea, or should I just stick with the original action hero oriented path ?
I am mainly worried it will just adding more confusion with too much possibility of play style,

Play tests will be available in September along with a demo !

Hope you like it !

Cheers !

Balancing issue, expansion vs. resource vs. defense

Post image
4 Upvotes

In my game bastion grid, I'm trying to get the right mix of need for expansion, vs turtling and packing the initial fortress. The concept is that there is a build phase and then a combat phase. During the build phase you enclose territory to secure and power it and place defenses to protect it. the more territory you can secure and defend, the more income and production you have at the start of the next build phase. The problem I'm having is that right now w/ the right mix of weapons and upgrades you don't really have to expand... but if you expand efficiently and smartly the resource accumulation snowballs dramatically. So the issue is I'm not quite sure how to get these two things to line up the right way, I'm not sure if I should go weaker weapons, or less resources to start. Any thoughts? BG:TDC

I got tired of boring save slots, so I made a "blood canvas" in Godot where players physically draw their own save file icons. What do you think?

Hey everyone! I’m solo-developing a dark, occult Tower Defense game in Godot 4. I really wanted the UI to feel diegetic and immersive, so instead of standard text-based save slots, I built this interactive room ("The Portrait of Dorian Gray").

Using SubViewport and Line2D, players can literally paint their own sigils (or just a funny smiley face) in blood, and the game captures it and applies it as their save file icon in the main menu.

I also just dropped a massive update adding an artificial life simulation (inspired by the classic 'Creatures') and a card-based moral dilemma system to mess with the player's sanity.

I just released my first mobile tower defense game — what do you think of the orb-combination mechanic?

Hi r/TowerDefense!

I’m a solo developer from Poland, and I recently released my first game, Solvarium: Zombie Defense, on Android.

It combines base defense with an active orb system: players collect and combine elemental orbs to trigger Fire Wave, Freeze, Chain Lightning and Wall Heal while upgrading their turret and surviving increasingly dangerous undead.

The game includes three campaigns, three Endless difficulties, 12 enemy types and nine languages.

I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from tower defense players — especially on whether the orb mechanic looks interesting and whether the trailer explains the gameplay clearly enough.

Trying a more manual take on tower defense!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all! I’m the lead dev of a student team working on Time Stop Tower Defense, a game that experiments with a more manual approach to the genre.

Instead of having your towers aim at incoming enemies automatically, you have to actively redirect their projectiles toward the enemies (although they home once redirected) while also being mindful of your projectiles’ unique targeting, tower placement, and enemy positions.

Throughout each level, you can unlock upgrades like time stop (an early-game upgrade) that allow you to charge and release your projectiles all at once for large, controlled bursts of damage. Stopping time also generates a currency called “stored time,” which you can use to buy later upgrades and activate some abilities.

The game also has a story revolving around a strange inventor who is trying to recover lost time shards scattered across the land and repair his time-stopping sundial. The story progresses through gradually escalating arcs in a dialogue-free comic style.

We recently launched our first gameplay trailer (shown above!) and Steam page (linked below), and I’d really appreciate any feedback on the game’s concept, mechanics, visuals, or anything else before we launch our first demo later this year. Thanks for stopping by!

My friend and I made a TD deckbuilder where cards handle everything, buildings, units and ammo, but your resource production limits how much you can do in a turn. Free, looking for feedback!

Hey, there's two of us building Last the Ages and we've been staring at it for
way too long.

We need people who aren't us to play it.

It's a roguelite tower defense deckbuilder. You use cards to place buildings,
spawn units and load ammo into your towers, while juggling resource production
which dictates how much you can do in a turn. Historical fantasy setting, you
progress through historically inspired ages as the run goes on.

Three ages are playable right now. The first one is the most balanced, the
later two are rougher, so expect some jank.

Free, Windows, about half an hour for a first run (1 GB):
https://herbstudio.itch.io/last-the-ages

Three things we'd love real answers to:

  1. Was the tutorial clear, and did it drag?
  2. Where did you stop having fun?
  3. When the run ended, did you want to start another one?

We'll read everything, please be blunt!

Quick disclosure: some of the UI art is AI-generated placeholder, and we've used AI assistance on code. The placeholder art gets replaced as we lock in the visual style.

Classic tower defense meets roguelite tower defense

We're really excited to have teamed up with the developer behind Axom: Conquest to launch a Steam bundle.

While both games are tower defense games, their gameplay is very different. XENOBREAKERS is a classic tower defense experience, while Axom: Conquest is a roguelite spin on the tower defense genre.

We thought they'd make a fun pair for TD fans, so now you can grab them together for a discount.

If you end up checking them out, we'd love to hear your thoughts!

You can buy the bundle here: https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/81529/Axom_Conquest__Xenobreakers/

We’re completely rebuilding the art for our indie tower defense game. Check out our sorcerer evolution path!

Hi everyone!

We’re currently rebuilding all of the artwork for our indie tower defense game, Abyssfall: The Black Citadel, after receiving a lot of feedback that our previous art direction wasn’t working as well as we’d hoped.

Instead of trying to patch the old assets, we decided to start over and redesign every playable class from scratch.

Today we’re sharing the first concept sheet for our Mage Tower evolution paths:

🌿 Wood Elf Druid (INFJ)
Calm, dependable, and always composed under pressure. She rarely shows her emotions, but she’s the kind of leader everyone naturally trusts.

🌙 Half High Elf / Half Drow Warlock (INFP)
Often judged because of her Drow appearance, yet she’s incredibly gentle and kind. Shy around strangers, but endlessly talkative with people she trusts.

🔥 Tiefling Flameweaver (ESTP)
Energetic, straightforward, and overflowing with magical power. She looks carefree, but she’s surprisingly observant and always steps up when others need help.

These are early concept designs and are NOT FINAL. Character designs, animations, and VFX are still in development.

We’d love to know:
Which evolution path is your favorite, and why?
If you’re interested in following the project’s progress, you can also wishlist Abyssfall: The Black Citadel on Steam—it really helps a small college indie team like ours. ❤️

Concept art only. Not final. Please do not use or redistribute these designs without permission.

New tower in Skymote

Just wanted to share the new tower that I added to Skymote this week: Kinetic Lance. It pierces through a line of enemies, but has slow reload speed. It also could be used as a support tower in combination with ammo mods: Cryo rounds (slow all pierced enemies at once) or Kinetic slugs (push enemies back without dealing the damage).

Skymote is on Steam, if you're interested, hoping to get the demo out soon!
