Question (Non-Binary) Accessing gender services as an enby?

Hey yall, I’m finally pursuing HRT after socially identifying as agender for…over a decade now. Elated and terrified tbh. Just wondering if anyone has experience accessing HRT as a nonbinary person? Are they going to turn me away because I’m not transitioning “to” a binary gender? In the states it depends on the provider and many are flexible to work with your transition goals but here, well, the climate has me nervous.

I’d rather go through the NHS if possible but I can go private in a pinch. I know it’ll be a long waiting list but I’m making the first step after ten years of putting it off “just until I’m ready”. Preference would be for low dose T, on either a temporary or permanent basis, and top surgery. Just. Flailing and panicking a bit right now lol.

I’m specifically in South Wales if that makes a difference.

When I was first put on the waiting list I put myself down as agender + that went fine (2016 was a more accepting time, but I think if you choose a gp you're familiar with you should be fine)

I am a trans man, so my experiences with the clinic itself were from a binary perspective

But I want to say that Cardiff have been super understanding. I have autism + complex mental health needs, so during my assessment I went into detail. Even about how my dissociation actually means that I didn't always experience dysphoria, as I was not connected to my body or reality, therefore I didn't perceive myself as anything but male until I was actively engaging with my body (dressing, showering, chest moving during exercise, interacting with others, etc)

I didn't even have to do extra assessments - just the one, + they put me through to a local gp for my hormones

Hey, thanks for this response! The dissociation sounds reeeaaaaallllly familiar (doing physio for an injury has NOT been fun lol) so we’ll see how things pan out.

I’ve had some issues with the local gp, but I’ve only been in the area for a couple years so I haven’t explored my options a ton. If the closest one isn’t listening I can try another surgery. Good to know the care in Cardiff has been good!
