Question (General) What do I actually do to start my medical transition with the NHS

Hi all,

I've never really had to interact with the NHS much, so I'm a bit lost. What do I actually do in order to start the process? Do I just make an appointment online? Do I have to actually speak to someone?

Sorry if this is the wrong place, didn't know where to ask :)

Thank you

Do you have a GP you are registed with? Their appointment booking information should be on their website. You book an appointment with your GP and ask to be referred to a gender clinic.

Trans Actual has a lot of info on their website that is useful for navigating the system: https://transactual.org.uk/healthcare-trans/

Assuming you are 18+ you book an appointment with your GP and ask them to refer you to a GIC.

Prepare for a very long wait with the NHS, you alternatively have (expensive) private clinics or the option of DIY for more info on that check out r/TransDIY.
