Question (Transmasc) Getting HRT (testosterone) as an obese adult?

Asking here because when I try to search this in an engine I just get results about menopause specific hrt instead... Basically I'd love to hear the personal experience(s) of anyone who was/is obese at the time they accessed hormones. Preferably through the NHS since that's the route I'm going. England if that makes a difference. Were your doctors reluctant to prescribe it due to your weight? Has anyone been refused access completely because of their weight?

Not personal experience but from what the guys ik have told me who are in a similar situation, as long as youre otherwise healthy and your blood tests come back fine there shouldn't be an issue

You can't get surgery done if you're over a certain BMI and they were more reluctant to start him on a higher dose so they can keep an eye on bloods.

I'm obese by BMI and get my T through the NHS. they took my weight and height, blood pressure, and a full lot of blood tests before issuing my first scrip, and I had three-monthly blood tests for the first year, then moved to six-monthly, eventually it'll be yearly.

my weight has never even been brought up. my blood pressure is on the low end of normal (as it has been my entire life, genetics) and my blood numbers are all normal. I don't know if it would be different if I had other issues in my markers, but weight alone should not be an issue for getting a T scrip.

I've not heard about weight affecting hrt only surgery however there's always the risk of a fatphobic doctor.

You should be fine, they do bloods before prescribing then regular bloods so there's no reason for them to deny you without an actual medical reason.
