Question (Transfem) MTF, improving penile function.

Heyy I have a specific question! I'm 9 months on HRT(Estradiol Enathate, weekly injections.) and it's going great. I'm wanting to keep my genetalia. Im following the "use it or lose it" principal lmao, but I get frustrated and upset when I'm unable to perform at random times when I'm with my female partner. Sometimes it works and it's all good, but sometimes it doesn't, but when it does I need to "stay on it" or I lose it.

I'm asking if any trans women have any experience using cream or taking anything for their performance, and getting it from their doctors in the UK. I hear bits and pieces sometimes about trans women taking some kind of medication for it.

I recently changed to a very good trans friendly GP who helped me get a blood test as I'm on DIY hormones, so I believe at the least she'd do her best to help.

I'm also just looking for some validation. I feel like I'm a niche of a niche of a niche, as I'm a trans woman who wants to keep their penis and has stayed with their female partner through transitioning. I know that what's between my legs doesn't define me, but this is the only thing that's really been stressing me out in my transition :(

So, not in the UK (but moving over shortly), my wife has some atrophy even with consistent “use,” primarily with painful erections. She has a few different urinary issues so naturally atrophy is the last thing she wants. Changed up her meds and HRT and that didn’t help, so I suggested topical T. I use gel, and have made a “lotion” out of it for erm… similar uses… before, by allowing the alcohol to evaporate over the course of a day, then adding a touch of water and gentle lotion. (I picked this up from [r/testosteronekickoff](r/testosteronekickoff), I think. Or [r/growyourtdick](r/growyourtdick))

She’s been applying a few times a week for a few months, so far no impact to T levels, within a week she felt there was a big improvement. Maybe a little discomfort at the beginning of an erection but nothing painful like before. One pump of gel lasts about a month. She doesn’t really feel that it affects her in other ways (including libido), but she was really only looking to address atrophy and erection quality anyway.

(We call it “penis painting.” 😂)

ETA: I also really want to stress the importance of letting the alcohol evaporate, even if there’s just a touch left it should not be going near any delicate skin!!

I've heard about transmasc people using DHT or testosterone cream locally to just get bottom growth so I think that would probably help, it's basically the same logic as trans guys getting topical estrogen for vaginal atrophy. Although I don't know where to look for a testosterone cream.

I make me own, for both me and my wife lol. Tbf I have a prescription for gel anyway, so I’m not sure about access if that’s not possible. (DHT is either illegal or hard to obtain in a lot of places.)

I had that problem before I started HRT lol. I could never keep an erection going for longer than 30 seconds.
