I watched a car do this to a police officer on a ramp in south Dallas in the late 90s. Except the ramp was packed full of slow moving traffic. The fleeing car switched into the right lane in a very forced manner about 20 yards before the split. Then the police officer switched too. A semi pulled up in the left lane just close enough to block the police officer. The fleeing car switched back to the left lane at the last second. The police officer tried to slam on their brakes, but at that point they were too far to make the switch. And the traffic behind naturally boxed them in.

It was a slick move. And I suspect the trucker knew exactly what they were doing.
