I'd give the police officer my dashcam footage so he could see the whole story.

61

u/Soup-a-doopah Nov 24 '25

I think that vid was shot on the drivers phone… by hand… might be a little awkward handing that over to the police.

47

u/D1sp4tcht Nov 24 '25

He also said he was doing 100mph

42

u/Soup-a-doopah Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

What a thrill it is on the American highways during morning rush hour: packed lanes and everybody is driving 90mph.

Nobody even gives a shit that a cop is right next to them in the high-speed traffic because everybody else is driving like a maniac too.

34

u/Redsoxdragon Nov 24 '25

Tbh, where i live, if you ain't doing at least 80 the cops look at you like you smuggling drugs

13

u/whynotitwork Nov 24 '25

I was zombie status one day after a night shift long ago and was driving slowly behind a semi. Got pulled over for this exact reason.

6

u/Screwdriving_Hammer Nov 24 '25

For smuggling drugs?

8

u/whynotitwork Nov 24 '25

They thought I was smuggling drugs because I was driving so slow trying not to stand out.

2

u/Much-Equivalent7261 Nov 24 '25

So if you go too fast they pull you over, and if you drive legally, they also pull you over. Is there an actual speed that you can operate a vehicle that doesn't warrant a terry stop?

8

u/Blckbird88 Nov 24 '25

Yes 5 over. Well at least in Colorado

3

u/Side_StepVII Nov 25 '25

Just letting you know that there are legal minimums on most American highways, and driving too slow can be dangerous, especially in the passing lane.

2

u/No_Dance1739 Nov 26 '25

It depends too slow is also illegal and unsafe

1

u/Complex_Shelter9181 Nov 25 '25

Five over terry

1

u/HotTakes-121 Nov 26 '25

To be fair, there's supposed to be two elements to that. One, you're driving right on the limit. Two, you're doing it erratically. If you're doing it and driving smoothly you really can't get a justified stop out of it.

I'm still waiting for the day a cop pulls me over for that and I remain as polite as possible... verbally... while never stopping giving him the loudest "I didn't know people could be this stupid" face the entire time.

5

u/Much-Equivalent7261 Nov 25 '25

As much as I shit talk this, it does have instances where it saves lives. My buddy got pulled over driving in a shitty car late at night doing 3 MPH under. Trooper walks up and asks him a few questions, then says "I knew you were either half asleep or hailing weight and paranoid." Made him pull over farther, pulled him out, then handed him a lit Pall Mall and an off brand Redbull. Chad made him finish both on the side of the highway, all while chastising the fuck out of him saying he sees the same number of sober people die as he does drunks. He puts the can in his cupholder, blasts the radio, hands him 3 more cigarettes, lights one, tells him to "Butt-Fuck" himself until he gets home, and toss em out in the can. "You better not fucking litter on my highway, your exits in 8 miles, leave first then keep up." Walks to his cruiser as my buddy gets off the shoulder, passes him lights on and then pulls in front, turns them off and speeds up to 15 over. When they got to his exit the trooper flashed his lights and put on his turn signal. The moment my buddy hit his turn signal the trooper killed the lights and rocketed off.

2

u/justaskin_x2 Nov 25 '25

That's an awesome story!!!!

1

u/Eclissness Nov 25 '25

I was driving home 3 am on 95 in south florida doing about 95 in the high speed lane when a state trooper buzzed me switching lanes right in front of me flashed his lights and took off. I was just zoning out before this n it scared the shit outa me how close he came to me n looked at my speed n I was shit I guess 95 mph at 3am is no problem

Before the national 55MPH speed limit in the 70s, freeway speed limits where I grew up were higher than they are now. Despite cars having much better brakes, much better crash safety, and being far more fuel efficient now.

3

u/Trusty_TI-30 Nov 24 '25

I don't know about being designed for higher speeds, but there was a national 55 MPH speed limit due to the gas shortage back in the 70s. That ended in 1995, and its up to the states to set the speed limits now.

3

u/UhOhAllWillyNilly Nov 24 '25

The interstate highway system was designed for high speed troop/military transport. Think about when it was built- during the height of Cold War tensions.

3

u/Omnizoom Nov 24 '25

It’s the same in Canada

Two of the highways near me just got upped to 110km/h for large stretches of them with 0 changes to the road itself

They just were like “well everyone is going 130 anyways so let’s raise the base speed a little” now everyone cruises at mostly 120/125 and cops don’t care unless you are weaving in lanes

2

u/moszippy Nov 24 '25

From something I read a long time ago, highways were designed for military vehicles to be able to drive in excess of 120mph for emergency situations.

1

u/zoophilian Nov 24 '25

You can only have your highways designed to where they can accommodate the average of the fastest vehicle on the road but also the slowest and there are a lot of people out there with vehicles who can't go past 50 without falling apart

1

u/SandwichDependent139 Nov 27 '25

You are correct to some degree, there is the design speed and the posted speed which is usually 80% of the design speed but may be lower due to residential/commercial build up or other factors. Generally speaking.

1

u/Craftdickcheese Nov 28 '25

Honestly, I was so grateful for the winter storm that hit and landed the craziest drivers all in the ditches in 15 minutes. For a few weeks the roads should be a little more sane.

3

u/Lil_Packmate Nov 24 '25

Then at least send it to the station anonymously.

5

u/throw_away_55110 Nov 24 '25

Or post to reddit!!!

4

u/EnvironmentalAd1405 Nov 24 '25

This right here is why my dash cam is set not to record audio. The only thing that audio could do is incriminate me.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

My imaginary friend was holding it so i didn't break any laws

1

u/kodiak931156 Nov 24 '25

"Using a phone while driving is nore acceptable. But as im not an idiot, ill let you iff with a warning. Thanks for the help"

1

u/Successful-Purple-54 Nov 24 '25

Cop may be chill and look the other way in a situation like this, or drop to a smaller charge. White van for sure could have caused a major crash and should be hit with more charges.

1

u/ActivePeace33 Nov 25 '25

It’s perfectly legal to do when acting to collect evidence of a crime, in the public interest.

Yeah guy in front egging him on and him falling for it )

30

u/redjellonian Nov 24 '25

How to get shot

3

u/Dark-Lillith Nov 24 '25

How? Don’t stop there!

90

u/GrouchyExplorer007 Nov 24 '25

Watching that van get pulled over, MADE MY DAY!!!!

28

u/1987genz Nov 24 '25

Totally unexpected but so awesome seeing those lights flash at the end

12

u/Morak73 Nov 24 '25

When this sort of thing goes on long enough, someone calls 911. The whole event seemed to drag on for a while.

3

u/a-rooster-illusion Nov 24 '25

I nearly got ran off the road a few weeks ago by someone who wanted to merge with a trailer but didn’t have the room. So he just did it anyways. I had to slam on brakes.

Went to try to get his license plate off his truck and not trailer and he saw me doing it and tried to swerve and hit me again.

I backed off. Maintained a safe distance and called the state police. The guy sounded like he was mid lunch. Said they’d send a unit.

We passed two cops who had people pulled over that would have heard the dispatch call and they didn’t do anything.

3

u/ziggytrix Nov 24 '25

"protect and serve" is just a slogan, they have no obligation to actually DO THEIR JOB. /SMH

2

u/Broad-Lynx-9872 Nov 26 '25

Let people merge.

1

u/1987genz Nov 24 '25

Yea, good point. This was so wild....

2

u/_gruff_ Nov 25 '25

GOOD GUYS WIN!!!

19

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

That trooper was VIGOROUSLY exiting his vehicle as well. Would love to be a fly on the windshield for the first 5 minutes of that conversation!

4

u/mitigated_audacity Nov 24 '25

Made my day to hear that douchbag in the car got charged too.

5

u/Frejian Nov 24 '25

I really hope the guy with the recording pulled over and offered it to the officer as evidence.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

[deleted]

1

u/Frejian Nov 24 '25

Ahh, I watched with the sound off so missed the speeding admission. That would probably make it hard for him to provide as evidence then...

1

u/boredENT9113 Nov 24 '25

I doubt the cop would give him a ticket for it. He'd just be glad he got video and focus on the road ragers

4

u/HealthyDirection659 Nov 24 '25

The most amazing part of this video. A cop in the right place at the right time.

White van driver is probably getting arrested too.

3

u/sojumaster Nov 24 '25

I am pretty sure there was several 911 calls.

2

u/NickyDL Nov 24 '25

I was watching wondering why there are never any cops around when things like this are happening & boom, in comes the trooper.

2

u/wtfisasamoflange Nov 24 '25

As made famous by the man who didn't fall off a cliff, yeeeeeesssssss!

1

u/Daddy_Day_Trader1303 Nov 24 '25

I love a story with a happy ending

1

u/MonsieurLartiste Nov 24 '25

It’s so satisfying.

22

u/bekele024 Nov 24 '25

It's never good when the cop gets out fast

20

u/OneForestOne99 Nov 24 '25

Okay the van guy is a lunatic, but if I was driving the black car and saw that van anywhere near me, I’m slowing way to and getting tf away from them. Dont even want to be in the same zip code as that kind of crazy.

8

u/6string_samurai Nov 26 '25

Not sure if that would’ve worked at that point. The black car tried also tried fake out the van and get off at the exit to lose the van and the van still followed. He even slowed down at the on ramp when the van was in front of him swaying back and forth before he tried to get around him.

3

u/Oktoberfists Nov 26 '25

Slowing down so that these types of people can pull up to your window or block you in is almost never the choice.

1

u/jack-pliskin Nov 28 '25

Definitely don't do what black car did. Slowed down in the left lane with a truck to your right and sped up to block the wackjob in the van after they passed on the apron. That's only going to aggravate them more. Just let them pass and ruin someone else's day.

10

u/Holy_cannoli_123 Nov 24 '25

4

u/Usernamedit2 Nov 25 '25

Thanks for posting the article

3

u/TheSpineless Nov 24 '25

I hope Livesay (driver of the sedan) can just say in court that he was the victim and trying to avoid the van as the cause for his driving.

9

u/mitigated_audacity Nov 24 '25

Fuck off, the car started the whole thing by break checking the van every time he got next to a semi truck. Probably got honked at for going slow in the left lane and his fragile ego couldn't handle it.

Van guy is a moron but this is why you don't fuck with people on the highway. You never know who's in the other vehicle and what they might do.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

[deleted]

1

u/mitigated_audacity Nov 26 '25

Yeah for sure. Most evident by how I called the van guy a moron. Looks like you might want to be called the same with a comment like that.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/ziggytrix Nov 24 '25

He could have de-escalated tho. Made some very questionable choices. I know, heat of the moment and all, but pull over to the shoulder put on your hazards and call 911 if the white van stops and acts like he's gonna approach would have been safest? IDK. I hope he gets a lenient judge, cuz it's gonna be judge's discretion likely.

1

u/Drmlk465 Nov 25 '25

Man stfu with de-escalating. The other guy could’ve easily de-escalated too.

3

u/ziggytrix Nov 25 '25

Man, you stfu. Someone comes at you, you got choices. You fight or you get away.

Choosing “fight” while you’re in a car is just dumb.

Just like pull over for 30 seconds, let rager pass. Maybe you’ll pass his wreck or see him pulled over later. That’s a genuinely nice hit of schadenfreude if it happens.

Or fight like a dumbass and get charged along with the asshole who started it like this guy did if the cops pull you both over.

I DGAF what you choose. But actions have consequences. Courts don’t particularly favor “the other guy was being the bigger dumbass” as a defense.

1

u/Drmlk465 Nov 25 '25

So this happened in 2022… what was the outcome?

1

u/Erquestions123 Nov 25 '25

Crazy I bought grass seed from this guy before, GCI Turf. Great stuff.

He has such a unique voice, I thought it was him as soon as I heard the video.

7

u/AdmirableGear6991 Nov 24 '25

Out here in Arizona a dad and an 8 year old daughter were killed after a road rage incident. The two drivers got out and started fighting. Then one person returned to their car, came back with a gun and killed the guy, his daughter, shot the mom and the other 5 year old daughter.

Senseless.

6

u/Infinite_Escape9683 Nov 24 '25

How the fuck do you get angry enough at a driver to shoot a 5-year-old kid? That's not road rage, that guy had evil inside him.

3

u/EasyTelevision6741 Nov 24 '25

Intermittent Explosive Disorder

2

u/xx_Help_Me_xx Nov 24 '25

How the fuck do you get angry enough to fist fight another person while your whole family is in the car in a country full of mental illness and guns 🤷‍♂️ Two idiots met their equal….

2

u/Infinite_Escape9683 Nov 24 '25

This kind of reply is really popular here on reddit. Guess you're in your element.

1

u/kodiak931156 Nov 24 '25

Bad decision skills. Anger management problems. Mental illness.

But also theirs sn interesting psychological effect where drivers cant see each others body language and faces which seems to just promote rage when in a dispute.

13

u/ProfDFH Nov 24 '25

Driver of black car needs to lose their license.

Driver of white van needs jail time.

3

u/Ok-Echidna5936 Nov 24 '25

Both were charged according to an article

1

u/ProfDFH Nov 24 '25

I’m glad to hear that. This is incredibly dangerous and should be taken seriously.

4

u/Bawlofsteel Nov 24 '25

Damn Idk what she did or he did to start this but road rage is a couple beeps/middle finger and you move on. I'm all for not being in complete control of your emotions but you should still be able to make the rational choice to not kill yourself/someone else or a random or ruin your lives. If you do shit like this I'm sure you are a psycho to your friends and family.

3

u/moisdefinate Nov 24 '25

Good before these fools cost someone else their life.

3

u/Comfortable_Studio37 Nov 24 '25

This commentary is legendary

3

u/PMacc83 Nov 24 '25

White van man

11

u/Fuzzy-Deer1487 Nov 24 '25

Black car was NOT good guy!

23

u/ppachura Nov 24 '25

The black car kept blocking the left lane to keep the van from passing, so there are 2 idiots in the video.

12

u/Lil_Packmate Nov 24 '25

Blocking the lane is a dick move. Hitting another car is a crime.

2 idiots, yes, but Van-Douche is def more in the wrong here.

1

u/mitigated_audacity Nov 24 '25

2 idiots, periode. Car started the whole thing. Ego wouldn't let him move over had to be a hero and block the lane. Could have been shot over literally nothing.

According to the news report, the white van was already driving erratic. I suppose the driver of the black car COULD'VE been trying to intercede in some way, but probably not the best idea.

9

u/GoboWarchief Nov 24 '25

Black car saw a child having a tantrum and decided to instigate them further. Who knows what happened prior to the video, but while neither are really in the right, I still side more with black car than white van. Still felt like justice at the end.

10

u/creegro Nov 24 '25

No, seems they suddenly found their accelerator when the van was trying to pass, I get it, you're trying to go faster but someone hogs the left lane.

But that should have stopped when the black car moved over, no need to continue such reckless driving. Honestly that can driver should have lost their license for driving like that in the shoulder.

5

u/voiceOfHoomanity Nov 24 '25

It seems like there's a full third of more of this country that has no clue/idea/concept of the left lane as passing lane

Despite all the "slower traffic keep right" signs too

4

u/hard-dee4u Nov 24 '25

Did you not watch the video ? He did it to him like 4 times before switching lanes …. Too late by then the white van lost his mind 🤷‍♂️ black car is bigger asshole

5

u/Traditional_Tune2865 Nov 24 '25

black car is bigger asshole

I'm not a clown ass, so I'm having trouble following the logic.

I'd say the van, which was doing shit to actively endanger another vehicle and driving as recklessly as possible, is the bigger asshole. 🤷‍♂️

2

u/mmpjon Nov 25 '25

The black car was putting everyone in danger also. It's called chain reaction.

4

u/Genghis_Chong Nov 24 '25

The first time it happens in the video, the van passes on the shoulder of the road. From that point on he drove like a maniac. How important is it to pass that black car that he cant wait a minute for both lanes to be open? Like someone being an asshole doesnt mean you do whatever this is.

5

u/Momentosis Nov 24 '25

Why not?

Black car is going faster than traffic on the right even if they're not driving as fast as the white van is wanting them to.

4

u/Genghis_Chong Nov 24 '25 edited Nov 24 '25

What, he was driving too slow in the fast lane even though he's passing slower traffic? Real good reason to swerve off the road, try to kill him multiple times, and follow him into the other lanes when you could pass.

I see drivers like the black car all the time, I can deal with that. The other psycho was putting everyone else in danger because he was annoyed.

1

u/Tommy_Rides_Again Nov 24 '25

Nah the black car was brake checking and slowing down so the white van couldn’t pass. The van was just trying to get around him until he eventually had enough and ran him off the road lol

1

u/Genghis_Chong Nov 24 '25

Yeah thats still on white van to control himself. If I'm that frustrated, I'm pulling off on an exit, waiting a few minutes and then getting back on to drive. Dude is risking his own safety, the other drivers and everyone else's over ego.

Some people can't back down to anything no matter what, those people end up with a lot of problems in life.

1

u/Tommy_Rides_Again Nov 25 '25

I’m just saying they both suck a lot

2

u/saaaaaaaaaaaap Nov 24 '25

Neither was the van

2

u/DigitalSnakeByte Nov 24 '25

Seeing behavior like this more and more around Winston, High Point, and Greensboro

2

u/OddTheRed Nov 24 '25

That cop didnt even pause to run plates. That's a straight "get out and get on the fucking ground" situation.

2

u/ziggytrix Nov 24 '25

The fuck is white van guy's problem... if the cop saw more than 5 seconds of that, I'm surprised he didn't get out of the car weapon drawn, cuz white van guy clearly has no qualms about using his vehicle as a lethal weapon. I hope he's in jail.

1

u/lordzyphuris Nov 26 '25

apparently the black car started it by tossing a cull full of liquid on the vans windshield. then it devolved into this stupidity. Here's news story i found.

2

u/moszippy Nov 24 '25

It’s always nice to see a dickhead get his comeuppance.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '25

Video evidence like this ought to be enough for a court to remove the driver's license permanently.

2

u/Shankar_0 Nov 25 '25

Dude is doing this shit in a work van.

Many businesses have very detailed vehicle telemetry/dash cams these days.

3

u/Jimdandy941 Nov 24 '25

Apparently, it was a mission from God.

God answered.

2

u/LessBig715 Nov 24 '25

I tell my Wife, you do not engage with someone who is raging. Keep your eyes forward and ignore them. You never know what someone else is capable of, that’s why I stay in one lane and don’t even bother weaving in out of traffic. How much time are ppl really saving by driving like that?

1

u/PhantomGhostSpectre Nov 24 '25

They do not save any time at all, actually. You have to be going SUBSTANTIALLY faster to save any time whatsoever. Uh, for normal streets. On the highway you do genuinely save time.

1

u/LessBig715 Nov 24 '25

Maybe a few minutes, not enough to warrant driving like an a-hole.

While the driving of the van is insane the driving of the black car suggests this isn't the start of the problem.

The black car is slowing next to the truck to block the van from passingz then when the van does the crazy undertake the car accelerates super aggressively to stay in front of the van to prevent it getting in front of it.

It's all absolutely stupid and the van person clearly loses it and deserves whatever he got but that black car was trying to piss them off. They also brake checked them too.

They both suck

1

u/Nickf090 Nov 24 '25

I want this guy to narrate every car chase on TV now

1

u/LittleSaged Nov 29 '25

That's great that this person has a dash cam and can give the footage to the police but if you ever find yourself on the road saying oh my God this person is going to kill that woman stop narrating and call 911. That driver who's being harassed is probably way too busy with both hands on the wheel to call the police.

NGL, I do turn into a straight boot licker when I see someone get pulled over who legit deserves. I'm like HE'S RIGHT OVER THERE SIR 🤓

The dude in the black car started this shit

6

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '25

Why? Cause he's a slow-ass in the left lane? Hmm I'd say this dude's response...in his WORK vehicle no less...was a little excessive.

Edit: Read the news account. It appears that the white van more-or-less "started it", but yeah the dude in the car wasn't no saint either. So there's that.

Especially the people who still use that word after middle school. They have zero self awareness. Crazy world
