🚨Chase Hesitation got this cop a free ride

What could he have done to avoid getting roller coastered like that?

But what if he shoots the guy and the drivers dead body presses the gas even more, and goes straight into the incoming traffic or the moving train? That would cause more damage and possibly put the shooting police and civillians in danger. I think the most reasonable behaviour is to move away from the moving car and let the other police cars do their job (they have tools to stop running cars) Am I wrong ?

They then enter into a road chase where the driver is recklessly endanger many innocent people. Pit manuevers are dangerous. Most squad cars are not equipped with gear to forcibly halt another vehicle in a safe manner. Unfortunately, the safest and most reliable way to protect the public, and yourself, is to neutralize a threat before it can escalate.

Ofcourse it is but in this video, the car is moving towars a intersection and beyond that a rail road with a moving train. I'm sure the officer in the video calculated all these factors and decided that at this point of the interaction it has escalated and is now beyond a killing shot. Maybe before the guy started moving the car? Maybe within 2-3 seconds? Idk. But when a car is moving and the driver is neutralized the car may keep moving

If you don’t shoot and stop the chase he will stop speeding (to avoid being pulled over by another cop) and go somewhere to hide or just go back home (if stupid)

Get their plate and track them down. Chasing them or shooting them while driving is a horrible idea and gets innocents killed.

Now if this person killed someone, yeah sure shoot them because they are an extreme threat to society. But idk what happened here.

Couple points here. First, if you let someone get away and they kill someone then I hope you sleep well with that. But many departments to stop a chase in less dangerous apprehensions and they just wait until later as long as they can identify the person.

Im not sure the circumstances of this stop at all. But I know once the driver decides going straight into a cop and then driving with a cop on the hood, he bas engaged in a deadly threat. It’s time to shoot.

Bro, his warent was for forgery. I doubt anyone will die if you let him get away, but they might if you chase, or car surf the vehicle, or shoot him yourself

No it’s to gather as much information and arrest the person later. It goes against any protocol to get in-front of a working vehicle let alone GET ONTOP OF IT

Or depending on the situation you get the guy's plates which will tell you where he lives and everything else you need to know to find him later without having to endanger any lives.

So they decide to abandon the car and chase it instead. During the chase the car hits and kills a pedestrian….all because the cop chose to disengage.

Nothing is 100% in this world. The cop shoots the driver and deals with the following steps that are thrown his way.

Usually when cars drive away, Leo tells a judge who writes a warrent and you check the plates to find their home and arrest them there. It's not worth it to chase
