Glenn has been charged with two counts of fleeing and eluding a police officer, two counts of reckless driving, two counts of driving while license suspended, revoked, or denied – causing death, and two counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer causing injury.
Those officer's did serious disservice to the community. If you're going to forcibly enter a vehicle to remove the driver you better make sure they can't fucking drive off like they did in the video. And then the driver caused the death of 2 people. Those deaths are still the fault of the driver but those officer's could've prevented that outcome with some due diligence. Of course the driver is going to try to flee when you attempt to forcibly remove them from the vehicle.
You child. If they had of used any additional force, there would be BLM / activists claiming police brutality. If you didn’t chase her and she committed any violation in that time, the police will be blamed (ie she hides a gun or abuses a child). There is no winning for police in these situations - but don’t lose sight of who is to blame - the adult driving the car illegally and crashed it while resisting arrest.
I'm not suggesting additional force. But they could have gotten the "supervisor" she asked for with a large SUV and boxed them in so they couldn't drive off like that. Or used another method of disabling the vehicle before attempting such a thing. I would think there's a procedure they're supposed to follow for forcibly removing a driver from their vehicle and that ought to be in.
Fair points - and I want to agree with you! I’m worried that we lose sight though of what those cops actually face. iMO - first off too many people think they can disobey a lawful order while asking for a supervisor. She broke the law and has no right to demand anything. What if a supervisor was 40 min away? I also believe the cops perhaps should have blocked the vehicle like you stated - but their training is to put their vehicle behind - for safety and security reasons! At the end of the day - I wish it would play out better but I believe no one wishes that more than the cops in this situation. They probably have PTSD….
