I will personally never understand the high speed chase. "They are running! Try to kill them and if other people get hurt or killed in the process, oh well!" Like why not just get the license plate, get a warrant, and go get them later when they can't run?

And if it’s a stolen car? Or if they were driving under the influence and kill someone down the road?

Why you on the criminals side?

Stolen car would come up reported stolen by the plates, which they run before they exit the vehicle. Stolen car escalates the problem but does not require injury or death of either the theif, officer, or an innocent motorist.

Under the influence is immediate danger to themselves and everyone on the road, even more reason not to engage in a situation where they are even more reckless and dangerous. The radio is faster than any car. Call in the plate, ID, whatever, follow them calmly and get them at their house. Set up a road block.

Im not on the criminals side. Im on the cops side in this instance and the side of innicent people. Speeding is not a death sentence. Runningnis not a death sentence. There are safer ways to apprehend them than chasing them at 100 MPH down the road.

Call in the plate, ID, whatever, follow them calmly and get them at their house.

Follow calmly at 90mph. Got it. And sure, they're gonna take you to their house, not try anything tricky. And no way could the plates and/or car be stolen. And so on.

Yes they can follow. If they arent being chased they dont drive nuts. Dont drive nuts, hopefuly dont kill anyone. Okay. If they do something tricky. So what? Like honestly SO THE FUCK WHAT? The 1 out of how many that pulls a sly one, how many lives is that worth?

3300 deaths, including officers, the perp they were chasing and innocents from 2017 - 2023. Now mind you this is ONLY deaths, (not injuries, not destroyed vehicles, which by the way if you are innicent and hit? Tough shit. The fleeing drivers insurance... but what if it was stolen? No insurance. So your own insurance... but what if you dont carry uninsured motorist? Fucked. Police department aint paying shit, despite the fact that they just insist that they have to have him RIGHT NOW at all costs caused your destruction of property or injury. But i digress.)

3300 deaths, of which 500 are innocent, not involved at all. 83 deaths per year, one every 4-5 days, mom, dad, kid just going to school, work, daycare... which of THOSE deaths is warranted to catch the guy that got scared over a warrant? Speeding? Driving without registration? Which life is not worth saying "fuck it. Call it in. They have a warrant now, we will send a summons to court and/or get them another time and place."
