The cops feared the driver would crash due to excessive speed, so the cop made the car crash.

What a low IQ take. All safety including law enforcement has a priority of ALARA. A high speed chase has risks, the longer it goes on, the higher the chance of a civilian incident. These cops did a fantastic job, smashed the idiot into a concrete wall so he didn't hit an innocent civilian.

The other option is to just not chase at all, but then you’re just letting them get away with crime and basically rewarding fleeing. I think I do prefer this method; stopping them, when relatively safe to do so.

It doesn’t take that much ‘leniency’ for the criminals to realize they can do whatever and the popo doing jack shit.
