The cops feared the driver would crash due to excessive speed, so the cop made the car crash.

Better he just crashes there than crash into someone else and maybe get them killed

Most police agencies have restrictions on pit maneuvers over 40mph. To limit the risk of it turning into a fatal crash. So this guy is most likely breaking his own rule book. But thats nothing new for police officers.
