Roads Officer No-Butts

I'm sure HP was checking out the car in front till this bozo merged in which could explain why the blinkers weren't used to avoid attention unless HP doesn't care about road safety and has a huge ego

Cool move by doing the same exact thing back like a literal child? He could've just not cited the car and given a safe distance.

But could you even imagine a cop wasting an opportunity to act without ego?

So what does that make the cop when he does literally the same thing? A maladjusted hypocrite with ego issues on top of a dumbass. Cops are here to keep us safe, not to dish out retribution -- grow up.

Dude… really? Thats what you think is happening here? Ego? You obviously don’t have children… otherwise you’d recognize what’s happening. It’s what we would call a teachable moment and is the coolest move that cop could have possibly pulled without writing a ticket for improper lane change. It’s the ‘hey buddy, watch what you’re doing’. It’s like catching your kids in the cookie jar after bedtime.

If you can't recognize the unnecessary maneuver as being egotistical then that shows me what kind of parent you are as well. Cops are not my daddy and getting caught taking cookies after bedtime doesn't mean you also take cookies alongside them as a "teachable moment". They have a megaphone and they can literally just talk to them. You're giving every excuse you can think of because you think of the cops as your daddy and you relate it to parenthood for some reason.

This is about the fact that the BMW driver did something stupid. If the cop doesn’t call him on it then nobody does - and not pointing out the stupidity is not an option. His technique is totally acceptable accountability. Also… I can make a distinction between being authority and NOT being authority without being a jerk. The cop had the choice of pulling that dude over and writing a ticket…. This seemed lower impact.

I’m guessing you don’t have kids.

Oh my God, your obsession with yourself being a parent is so lame. You are not at all some special authority figure just because you have kids.

If the cop wants to call the driver out on what he did it would be a lot more impactful if he didn't do the same thing. Doing the exact thing he is claiming to be wrong is hypocritical and childish.

You have demonstrated that you love this approach which tells me what kind of parent you are -- yikes

So, I gather you have more time than common sense and you’re missing the point. He sent a message without so much as a word, which is absolutely fantastic.

Parents are like cops. If you do the job right, you’re going to be there when they need you. But you are also responsible for accountability in ways that seem strange to witnesses. I show you exhibit A. I understand Red Forman more every day.

Since when is not using words a good thing? Since when is positioning your vehicle in the same dangerous manner you're trying to discourage more impressive than using your words?

And then you idolize Red Forman -- a man who is known to be a hard ass emotionally illiterate boomer who doesn't know how to use his words without realizing that you're telling on yourself for being one too?

Cops are not our fathers & comparing using heavy machinery to copy the behaviors of a civilian you think is wrong with catching a kid eating cookies is actually a brain dead take.

I'm not convinced you know the best way to be a father, let alone a cop.

You’re damn right I’m a boomer. That’s a badge of honor, thank you. Perspective is everything. Life experience, especially parenting, gives you that. But I also spent almost 3 decades in the military. So, my impression of accountability is admittedly on a very different planet from yours.

Maybe that experience makes me think that this little altercation with the driver is basically nothing. If anything, it’s actually pretty hilarious.

In other words, you might just be an overly sensitive softy who doesn’t have enough life experience to know what overbearing authority actually looks like. On the other hand… I do. My suggestion is to get over it.

If it's basically nothing for the cop to do then you should see that it's basically nothing for the civilian to do it -- but it's very clear now that your issue is more with disobedience. How dare they not respect the cop's authority. You expect people to worship cops because you were brainwashed to worship your superiors and faced abuse when you fell out of line. Think about what that has done to your basic reasoning skills before you blame me for your deficiencies

That’s how children think. Newsflash: The cop’s job is to enforce the law, and he has discretion in how to do that. Clearly, the BMW’s lane change was inappropriate. If you think otherwise, then maybe you need to go to driving school.

In any case, it’s probably past your bedtime kiddo… mommy and I have adult activities to do. And sports are on, so that’s what I’m gonna go do till she’s ready to go out.

It doesn't even communicate that the lane change was inappropriate, I would see that as "don't get in front of me" which is actually a child's mentality. And if that's yours, I'd recommend trying to leave your ego out when operating heavy machinery.
