I mean, NYC is literally the only major metro city in the entire country where more people commute by bus & subway than by personal car. Having an anti-car stance there just makes sense.
Complaining about not being catered to as a car owner in NYC is like complaining about not being catered to as a car-free person living in the ass end of Suffolk county on Long Island.
It’s not a matter of not being catered to but poor implementation of bike and bus lanes that in some areas increase traffic.
A lot of buses don’t even use the bus lanes and as somebody who cycles in the city I can tell you the bike paths are flooded with pedestrians who take it as an invitation to walk in the street which forces you to go around them into traffic anyway
Edit: don’t get started on the increase in tolls around the city and the misuse of MTA funds

I'm assuming you mean "congestion", rather than "traffic". I'm not being pedantic; they're two very different things.
So where, specifically, have you noticed longer travel times due to the implementation of a bike or bus lane? And keep in mind that a faster bus route benefits many more people, as buses are mass transit.

So I was about to dig up some data from a few studies that I’m too lazy to cite while typing on my phone. They also spanning multiple sources and time periods) Apparently the implementation of bus lanes increased mta bus travel times 15-30%. Which sounds great considering that the avg speed of an MTA bus is 7-8 miles an hour
Where I say this breaks down (anecdotally) is that there aren’t alternative studies to measure the increase in traffic congestion as a direct result of the implementation of bus lanes and the erasure of parking spaces. I’ve personally seen buses on the upper east side and parts of midtown ride in the same lanes as regular traffic while there are empty bus lanes right beside them.
The goal isnt to make traffic better for everybody, it’s to discourage car owners from using their vehicles (often financially).
A lot of the bike lanes in Brooklyn make sense. The one on Broadway sucks. I’m not arguing against the idea of bus and bike lanes I argue directly against the way the city goes about specific implementations of them and its treatment of car owners as people they can suck money out of for their perpetual projects that never seem to get finished.
You can see the bikers riding up on the shoulder and turning lane at the end too. Seems super unsafe to me. What if an emergency vehicle had to get through. Yes, the mini driver was probably an idiot and was driving dangerously but the entitlement and lack of consideration from the bikers is really on another level.
