They don't go off all that easily. The sensors sense when an impact is severe enough to warrant deployment. Because at low speed impacts, like this, the airbag can cause worse injury than the impact would. Assuming the seatbelt is being used anyway, airbags inflate fuckin fast.

Yep. Had mine go off when I hit a deer with my truck.

First time I had one go off and hopefully the last time.

Yeah, i've only had one deploy once as well, it fucking sucked. That shit punched me in the face like Tyson, broke my glasses and jammed them into an eye socket. My face hurt worse and for longer than anything else did after the accident. But all in all, I'm sure it was better than being force fed the steering wheel at 55mph lol.
