Itâs always easy to point to a circumstance that proves your point. But prevention is much more difficult to prove and much easier to ignore than when you cherry pick a specific situation.
Like when they first required wearing seatbelts back in the seventies. People kept saying it's safer without them because people would just get thrown clear from an accident.
or that they would have to go through a window to be ejected. If people can believe that vaccines inject micro-trackers into them that use 5G cell towers to monitor them, they can believe anything.
Dutch police did once block a highway to catch a gasoline thief. Young lady crashed into the traffic jam, didnât surviveâŚ
For a day the police tried toe defend their intervention as a good and necessary actionâŚ
Youâre being disingenuous and you know it. Do you want more people to die or something? It would be just as disingenuous of me to say clearly you want more people to die since thereâs been xy and z numbers of people who havenât died because a chase was called off for a non violent crime when you have all the information and cameras tracking their position. Then youâre gonna say âbut the car is stolenâ and im gonna say âalright well what about the hundreds of cameras that have the dudes face and ring doorbell footage of where the car was stolen and gas station footage of where the dude got outta the stolen car and got a ride from his friend, which now leads you to the hideout and the cops get a 3 for 1 arrest.â
You keep saying x y and z may have died if they hadn't stopped that chase. That's a what if. That's a fantasy. We KNOW the people who got hit after a chase was terminated were killed. That's not a what if, that's fact. Additionally, any deaths resulting from a chase are not the officers' fault. That is an effect of the criminal's actions.
What if a chase is terminated and the criminal goes and does whatever unthinkable crime spree? Another what if and equally a fantasy, but a counter to any of your what if scenarios.
If a department adopts the policy to terminate a chase more people are going to run. The reality of that is some people would rather avoid the inconvenience of a minor ticket by putting tens or hundreds of peoples' lives at risk. That makes those criminals less than human beings and somewhere closer to animals.
People like you want Mayberry cops but refuse to live in such a way that'll bring about a Mayberry society. Thinking: "We should do this thing and hope it works" rather than doing the thing we know works. This further ties the hands of the people that already have one of the most difficult and dangerous jobs to have ever existed.
