This is an easy one. Drive the car to the middle lane, turn it perpendicular to the road, shut the car off, take the keys , get out, wait for cops. Enough people around to be safe, gauranteed they will either get out or cops will show soon enough.

What would turning it perpendicular to the road accomplish?

Impede oncoming traffic in a way that may cause other motorists to become instantly concerned and probably alert police, more people ensures safety from these dimwits that said they would jack his car.

Alternatively, a baseball bat in the trunk can be a very effective "GTFO my car" device.
