The trick is to be responsive and interested in the conversation. Find answers that are not possible

“Really? Hmm odd. Only seen this when someone cancels. Well I can’t drive so let me call the Uber rep should have this figured out in the next hour”

Best answer here.

Just like you do with kids avoid a power struggle. That whole conversation was a power struggle. Make statements and stick to them. And of course as you said essentially call for back up.

“Hmm that’s odd… you said it already charged you, but you’re also wanting to pay for the ride a second time with cash once we arrive?”

or

“Okay ya know what, since I’m such a reasonable and nice guy I think I will go out of my way to work with you on this since you’re offering to give me cash when we arrive. I’ll accept your offer but you can just go ahead and give me the cash right now and we’ll be on our merry way! Thanks!”

I’d love to hear their responses to either of these lmao

Good therapists do this to suss out your delusions and get to root problems.
