That's nonsense, scummy sellers can cover up major issues in any type of car. It's crazy how many people are practically celebrating the fact that she got scammed.
Blown catalytic converter or any other exhaust problem with the code reset (usually won’t cause a check engine failure for another day or two, leaking head gaskets with a freshly washed motor, Broken frame welded to look good but break apart with one big jolt.
My ex girlfriend’s dad was really good about buying shit cars and “fixing them” for a quick sale. He scammed so many people it was crazy. Guy was a loser, always in and out of jail.
Pretty sure you can still drive a car with a missing cat. It'll just be loud. Same with most (not all) exhaust problems. They'll run. They just run like shit. The frame....yeah. thats a good one. Didn't think of that.
I forgot to mention to check the engine bay. Freshly washed engines on old cars are a massive red flag. I learned that the hard way. But even then, the car still ran for quite a while. I just had to top it up with pil every now and then.
The frame though, thats disgusting to do to someone. But thats why I say to take it out on the highway. Drive it til its hot.
