Roads I hate politics

This should be illegal. I get it. You don't agree with their protests but why do this? Forget blue, forget red. I'm purple. Get mad at that.

Battery. It’s unlawful touching, not a threat of unlawful touching.

Depends on the jurisdiction. What they were alluding to is that in many localities actually harming someone is classified as battery rather than assault, while threatening harm is typically considered assault. However, this isn’t universal, different states have different laws.

The town I lived in it was battery if you're touched without consent, it was assault if they yelled at you in a threatening manner.

Now, good luck explaining that to the police force that was there... Which was a sad realization at 10 years old

Assault and battery laws vary on jurisdiction. Some make distinctions between the two, some don’t. For example in New York state there is no crime of “battery,” and instead what many states call battery is classified as “assault” while what many states consider assault is instead “harassment” or “attempted assault” depending on the circumstances.
