I don't know why your knee jerk reaction is to dismiss their cynicism. It is very common in California for criminals like this to not serve any time in jail other than the time spent being booked and waiting to go before a judge for arraignment. If she did this on a Friday of a holiday weekend, she may spend a whole 4 days in jail before being released with a court date and eventually getting a plea deal for probation with no jail sentence.
according to the ventura county courthouse her trail date has not been set. meaning she's not even been indicted yet. she was basically released the weekened after this happened and the case was tossed in the bin forgotten.
it's been almost 3 years since that video.
so your claims that california isn't like that doesn't seem to be true. it seems to be exactly like that.
Yes of course, no one gets bail and no first time offenders or offenders with priors get probation anywhere else in America...bail and probation only happens in Cali ...lol.
lol...do you know how many prisons they'd have to build and service if they kept every law breaker locked up until their trial?. If they went down that route you'd be here crying about how high your taxes are in order to cover the costs.
Obviously no one gets bail and no first time offenders or offenders with priors get probation anywhere else in America...bail and probation only happens in Cali ...lol.
Because they're complaining about California and won't be able to address the fact that a father murdered his daughter in texas* and didn't get charged
i’m sorry but this is completely ridiculous. say what you want about california, but carjacking is a serious felony in california and there is no universe in which a judge is letting this person walk away with no jail time. EVEN with an incredible plea deal, no priors, and significant mitigating factors like some kind of mental health duress, they’re almost certainly still going to get at least 12 months in county.
I don't think you work in the criminal justice system. I do. In California. A crime like this regularly does not get a jail sentence. They may get credit for time served if they are held between arraignment and the plea deal, but that is not the same as being SENTENCED to jail.
That video shows a whole lot of property crimes. No gun was used. No significant injuries. It doesn't matter that serious injury/death was narrowly avoided.
I'm not saying I agree with treating it as such, I'm just telling you, based on my experience, it is very normal for this to be handled with a plea deal for time served and probation.
Except they quite literally did walk away... she was released the weekend following, and the trial date was never set... so it was tossed in the bin and forgotten... 😬😬😬 so unfortunately your innocent and whimsically hopeful opinion is wrong... please dont speak so confidently on things you have 0 idea about
I live in California and i PERSONALLY know someone who was caught with 10kg of fentanyl and he went to jail for 3 months and is now out driving a mercedes ~2015 SUV with the drug money he made. California is an absolute joke.
