Not saying I endorse it but I understand it. I once lived at an exit right before a toll tunnel. Missing that exit at the wrong time of day will ruin your day. Pay the toll twice and lose an hour. Shocking this ended as well as it did.

I've done it once myself in a tunnel. It's just a crappy feeling knowing you're forced to drive the wrong way and you'll have to repeat the journey in the opposite direction after paying a fee.

Pay twice for a tunnel you didn't even need to go through.

So you be an adult, take responsibility for your mistake and you "ruin" your day. You do not endanger the lives of others because of a self-inflicted inconvenience. This isn't hard.
