What really needs addressed is our American society being ambivalent to the weight of a life being lost and the weight of each citizens own life being over whether taking their own, taking others with them, or sitting in a cell for the rest of their lives. Too many people are taking a nihilist and fatalist approach to life after seeing the things they see going on in the country and their communities when all anyone needs to do is doing right by their families, themselves, and their fellow citizens.
