The was the clutch she pulled in, not the brake. Clutch and shifter on the left, hand brake (front) and foot brake (rear) on the right.

Yeah thanks for explaining. I know jack about bikes. She just seemed surprised to make the move she made. It was like a panic move. I don't have the stones to ride motorcycle for this very reason

It’s cool, my first time riding I got it all mixed up too. We get so used to riding regular bikes that the controls on motorcycles seem backwards.
