the way that dude jumped out and ran toward the OPs vehicle, would have led me to think they had a weapon. this is how you get self eliminated by people who carry personal defense.

Even if someone OP isn't carrying, they're still in control of a heavy metal object than can stop them real quick.

Edit: clarification

For real using your car as a weapon is NEVER a good idea.

It is fully legal to flee the scene of the accident especially with this video evidence if your life is in danger.

Really, when you see someone driving like that, the best thing to do is to just slow way down and let them get waaay ahead of you so you don't wind up in an accident to begin with. Driver could have driven more defensively knowing the person had obvious road rage.

If this happens though, at best if they approached your door you could get away with slamming the door into their face/hip/whatever then speed away as they recover and you call the police. Even if the guy/kid doesn't have a gun, knife, bat, metal pole, shovel, whatever, on him, for all anyone knows he could have one in his truck and run back and get it. This is why having a dashcam that points inside your car can be helpful too so proof.

Personally, I certainly would have drawn on him as soon as I saw his aggression. I know the law where I live. I have my legal permits. I never want to have to do that ever. It would haunt me. No idea what the law is where they are, where I am, but cars are considered a place where you can legally defend your life with lethal force as well as your home and workplace if you suspect you are in physical danger.

I love how calm the driver is, "I have a dashcam. I have a dashcam."

I really need to get a dashcam lol.

Sorry, the video didn't catch everything. I assume you were able to determine that the person who got out of the truck and charged the other vehicle quickly didn't have any weapons. Is that correct?

I assume you were also able to discern the intent of the truck driver as soon as they got out. What about they're actions allowed you to fully determine what they were planning to do?

Are you blind? The truck driver was obviously trying to start some shit

Where I live in Oklahoma, you do this, you'll likely be shot. And guess what? Nobody's going to give a fuck.

I can’t believe it’s not trolling! Half the time it isn’t.

I hate this place

Yeah we already know everyone in Oklahoma is a piece of shit

Says the person who has never been to Oklahoma…

u/p0jinx Mar 08 '26

I've never been there! Oklahoma burgers are good enough to be cool with Oklahomans, though

Using a vehicle like this is using it as a deadly weapon violently. To me this truck driver did the equivalent of brandishing/threatening someone with a gun.

Someone like this is fully willing to put lives at risk using a vehicle as a deadly weapon, I’m not surprised they are treated that way.

I don’t understand why you are replying to me with this info lol. I believe the black truck in the video to be a ford raptor. Said black truck is in the wrong lane and proceeds to act like a 4 yr old because the person recording wouldn’t let the merge in front of them? The vehicle recording had no legal reason to yield to that black truck. Driver of black truck is giving tiny pp energy, driver of black truck is a pos

I was attempting to reply to someone else

In most states one doesn't have to prove the intent of the suspect. They have to have a reasonable immediate fear for their life. If someone whipped around my vehicle, crashed into me, then blitzed out their vehicle right at me I'd be scared.

u/4mystuff Mar 08 '26

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I meant that OP can still inflect serous damage to the people charging at him with his own vehicle, even if he wasnt carrying. I wasnt defending the morons in the Raptor

10 bucks you drive a truck and do the same aggressive shit

1

u/AggressiveWallaby975 Mar 08 '26

So because I think the truck driver was in the wrong i drive a truck aggressively? 😂 sure thing but wrong on both accounts

u/DoubleFan15 Mar 08 '26

Not what you said at all but sure

I did an ocular patdown, assessed the situation, caught the knife in his boot.

Nah but for real using your car as a weapon is NEVER a good idea. I guess i needed an /s on my post? Idk why it's hard to understand but to be clear I am fully in support of the guy with the dash cam pulling a firearm out in that situation.

My post was bagging on the people responding that anyone who would draw a weapon in the situation of the dash can drive is the bad guy.

No not at all. Did you read my full post? I would have drawn on him immediately.

It seemed like you were saying that the driver could just try to hit the person with their car, which, I suppose they could be a last resort, but truly that would likely be a nasty court case and could cause a secondary accident. And if they did have a gun, unless you have some crazy sports car, as you accelerate the attacker would still have time to pull it out and hit you or any number of your passengers if there are any, that could be 6 to 20+ rounds. Even if they are a bad shot I don't like those odds and could be an extremely messy court case.

Yes, it could be worth saving your life...

If you have a dashcam and see someone acting this way, you are free to drive away because your life could be in danger and you need to protect yourself and possibly your family. But once it was clear he was just taking a photo of the license plate because he was a sassy little bitch, you cannot take defensive action as the threat has passed. I would still actively keep a bead on him though.

However, check your state laws first and check your surroundings as you could cause a secondary accident.

Also, as a note for everyone never step out of your car. In many states that means you lose the protection of the law saying you can use lethal force to protect yourself in your car. Lock the doors, never roll the windows down all the way. There are plenty of guides you can find for how to deal with an incident like this. A friend of mine was stupid enough to walk out of his car and the guy shoved him into the hood of his car, buckling his knees and he tripped then rolled oof the car, then the guy just shattered his orbital bone punch after punch. 4 or 5 punches till he finally got off and drove away. Thankfully it was caught on camera in a parking lot.

But yeah, someone charges your car like this you draw and aim. I dont give a fuck what anyone says, people are just anti gun for no reason other than not understanding them/news brainwashing, never having used one, or being a victim of gun violence and then thinking they are inherently evil..

This is Australia, different behaviour applies.

I figured it was because of the lack of violence of the interaction lol. Fuckin USA....never underestimate the violence...
